Hi,

My misses comes with me when I train and spends most of the time doing cardio work. She usually spends about 10 minutes on a treadmill warming up slowly before moving onto step or elyptical trainers. The problem she has is after 5-10 minutes she gets a really bad headache usually at the back of her neck. This also happen at about 135-140 bpm but im not sure if this has anything to do with it. She has tried taking pain meds before and during the gym but it doesn't really make any difference.

Any ideas? This is driving her nuts :(

Headache in this area is usually associated with hypertension, and/or high blood pressure. It is less common, for high blood pressure to affect this area though, sounds like tension, usually pain meds will do nothing for this. I am not a doctor, but I lived for 20 years with a woman who suffered with Ht.

#PS. Most of the time, they are not aware of this being the problem. And it is hard to pin down the reasons for it, although men also suffer from Ht, it seems to be more of a ladies malady.
