Alright Im pretty frustrated. I have not been able to lift in a week because of a stupid headache. I was doing shoulder presses last week, i strained a bit on my last rep and got the worst headache ever  . I felt it kind of creeping up then the worst pain in my head for about 10 seconds and then it slowly started fading. Its not the first time it happens and I cant go back for a few more weeks because they seem to come on very easily when I exert myself. I have an appointment with a neurologist on friday. I dont want to take any chances. I'm just wondering if anyone in here has felt anything similar?

You are better off if you just go light as opposed to not lifting at all. I get migraines so I understand the pain and associated frustration. It also helps to breathe when lifting.

Yeah, i thought it was just that i was forgetting to breath but I really try to concentrate on that and still I get a piercing headache proabably every few months or so and then for the next week or two it just seems to linger and come back when i exert myself and then just goes away. Thanks for the advice.

You could also be clenching your jaw. This is supposed to cause headaches also. Just a though :D

Are you taking any drugs, supplements, medication?

If you get headaches ever few months or so, it may not just be the lifting. I suffer from clusters. They are a type of headache very similar to migraines but not with the same symptoms. For me, they only happen about 2 times per year and last about 2-3 weeks at a time. Check with your Dr. because if they are clusters, they can be treated.
