I'm unsure as to whether or not you should count all the carbohydrate grams in a certain food, or should you substract the fiber from your totals? (i.e. if a slice of bread has 14g carbs, with 2g fiber, would that be 12g carbohydrates total?)

Thanks in advance.

You can do it either way...I would suggest not counting the fibre...so you'd go w/ the 12 g.

OK, why should I subtract fiber from carbs? This sounds real good......

High-fiber diet

Dietary fiber is found in many plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans, nuts, and whole grains. Although it is primarily made up of carbohydrates, it does not have a lot of calories and usually is not broken down by the body for energy.

Thank you Princess. I now feel like a dumb ass again!

I have been counting extra carbs for my diet and others, when all we are doing is sending them to the toilet.......go figure.
