Anyone use flax in this form and if so, how? I've read somewhere that it can be used as an alternative to flour in baking, but does it have other "non-baking" uses??

Thanks,

Kelly

Sure as a matter of fact I'm making protein pancakes tomorrow morning with flax meal, egg white and protein powder. I've made protein bread type things with it as well. It doesn't taste quite as good with real flour but it works :)

You can put it in your shakes for a healthy fat and great fiber supplement. Its all fiber! :D

Jodi...where do you buy flax meal? I am very interested in buying some when I get back.

Question...how does it taste? What does it taste like?

I get it in the refidgerated section at my natural food store. It kind of has a nutty flavor which is why I think its good for baking :)

You can use it as a substitute for some of the oil called for in recipes also.

how did you make the bread?

... Flax Seed: Just make certain that you grind it (like in a coffee grinder) if using it as an EFA suppliment in shakes and the like or your body will be unable to digest it any of the good oils out.

Flax Meal is already ground...comes in a vacuum sealed bag.
