Yep, I used to think and feel the same way...Fuck them all...lock them all up and throw away the key. I was an average everyday law-abiding citizen with a wife, house, full-time job, etc. Then in a very brief moment of time, everything changed. I screwed up real bad (I killed someone during an argument/fight). Didn't see it coming and didn't plan for it to happen...it just did. I was charged with First Degree Murder, and after sitting in county jail for a year, I was found guilty by a jury of manslaughter. I went to prison and it was for a very long time. I served just over 13 years. The point of me sharing this is that unexpected things happen and can happen in a quick and brief moment in time. My view of the justice system and prison was changed in a very dramatic way. (I'll save my thoughts/opinions on what prison is or isn't.) Don't get me wrong, I deserved to go to prison for what I did...I was the only one responsible for my actions. Still, in order to survive in prison you have to become something or someone that you may not want to be. Simply put: Prison is an ugly place to be. That is my 2 cents.
