hey guys and gals..

yep, currently it's winter in australia.. and darn itz freeeeezing...

i have a question in regards to weight(fat) gain during winter..

I know that some of the reasons behind this is that, generally, ppl tend to get more hungry in winter thus eating more calories in a day.. u feel more lazy in winter and thus ur activity level decreases resulting in less calories burnt in a day..

but does the actual cold weather contribute to the body holding onto fat, similar a post i read in regards to ppl who swim regularly in cold water, tend not to shed as much fat as ppl doing say running/jogging as the body tends to hold onto fat in the cold water.

thanks fellas in advance for your replies..

haha.. fair enuff..

any other suggestions?

I don't care either way, I bulkk in the summertime too. It doesn't matter if I look a little fat on the beach, that doesn't bother me.

As far as gaining weight in the winter time I remember reading something that said that weight gain can occur because of our bodies reaction to the shorter days (less sun;more darkness etc.). I can;t really remember the whole reason behind it.lol.

I'm so glad its summer here

I have heard the same thing but I couldnt find anything on it.

FYI - A good EFA in the winter is Cod Liver Oil

*Oh snap*

I just remembered why this is true. After years of evolution the body has certain patterns that it goes through/remembers. We were originally a hunter/gatherer society so in the winter time it is/was more dificult for us to get the neccesary foods that we needed. So our bodies natural reaction was to.......store more fat/burn more muscle inorder for us to survive these times of fast/starvation.
