Hey guys, I know beer contains empty calories, but if I were to include beer calories into my daily calories, is it still ok if I keep my calories at my desired level? Does this question even make sense, im not sure how to ask it, if you don't understand it, i can try to reword it.

Do what you choose but alcohol stops fat loss in its tracks. It's not just the carbs/cals in the beer that is the problem.

Well, seeing as how I only drink about once a month tops, and about 3 or 4 beers when I do, would it be a significant problem? Would I put on weight if I keep my calories at my maintenance level including the beer?

beer calories are just like any other calories, but worse. i think the term "empty" calories means that your body has no use for them other than storing as fat. so, while your question is confusing, i will say:

count beer calories in your daily totals. period. nothing should be any different from any other type of food.

thanks animal machine, i knew to count them in my calories, but i didnt know whether i should consume fewer calories if i have beer because of the fact that beer contains "empty calories".

don't stress about it. 3-4 beers every month isn't significant enough for concern.

Monthly no, you will be fine and enjoy. :D In your original post though you said daily and then YES that would harm you. ;)

Sorry, by daily I meant the day in which I partaked, sorry :)

Arnold loved beer. He drank one a day when not cutting.

carb laod with beer:thumbs: (lol)

Beer isn't so bad. It isn't "empty" calories either. That term is used when you are not receiving any nutrients along with your calories. Such as eating candy. Beer does give you nutrients such as B12, B6, folic acid, niacin, Panthotenic acid, and B2. So Beer is not "empty" calories. However, it might not help with weight loss at all, but as little as you are drinking, it's not a problem whatsoever.

I wrote a very thorough 2 part article on alcohol and bodybuilding -- think is is issues 3 and 4 in Mind and Muscle.

Alcohol also reportedly inhibits protein synthesis.

So is asprin, motron, etc. So people drink, wake up because they have a hangover and take these painkillers (nsaids) and go back to bed. OUCH.

Doesn't it also fuck with digestion/absorption meaning that the food you eat will not be digested and therefore just gets shit out? I am not being all to scientific here, but that is the jist. I know when i wake up the next morning I shit my brains out. Actually, these days I do before bed too. :D
