Gator Eats Deer

Not all that unusual. That looks about like an 8 footer. I have seen some monster crocs in Africa. One went about 14'. If I remember right there are some crocs in SC, tho this is a gator. A 14' croc will take a full grown zebra. As far as dangerous African animals go crocs are right up there with the worst of them. They probably are the worst but there are few facts about their victims cause there isnt any evidence left of them. Also most croc victims are woman, cause its the woman who are sent down to the rivers to get water. In Africa woman have very little status so if one gos missing the man just gets another and even if there were police reports in the places crocs eat at there probably wouldnt be one made anyway. Conservative estimates are that crocs take at least two people a day in Africa.

But Africa has no shortage of ways to kill you. Hippos are probably the next "most dangerous" animal, then comes elephants, buffalo, lions, snakes, leopards, bee's,and last are rhinos. Even the antelopes can kill you if not handled right. I know a guy who had his arm torn off by a zebra after he walked up on it, thinking it was dead, and the critter bit his arm off. I once saw a black mamba snake dance on its tail faster then a man can run,"lickily it was danceing away from us". If you get bit by a blk mamba you have about a 95% chance of not waking up the next day.
But America has critters that can end your lousy day as well. As yuppie joggers are finding out in California. As dangerous as mountain lions can be they are not in the same class as a grizzly. Ive run into both in the wild, I'll take a M-Lion any day. Black bears can be dangerous as well. I once saw a 500lb class black bear in Newfoundland. When they get that big theres very little differnce between griz and black bears, especially when wounded. I passed on a shot on this bear. He was to far and to wound such a wonderful animal is immoral as well as dangerous.I dont like gators and avoid them if at all possable. But they are puppies compared to African crocs. With crocs each foot over 10' they get they gain an increable amount of weight. A 14' croc is about waist high to a man when he gets up on all fours to walk or run.

Just a little morning me-andering over coffee on my world travels. Hope you dont mind. Of all the places Ive hunted Africa is the most fascinating. Everyone should go there once, wether you hunt with a gun or a camera. I'll post pics of my travels there someday. "Africa oh Africa, my heart is always there"................take care...............Rich

Yeah, I'd agree that this is not that unusual...except it is not captured on photo very often. I'd hate to run into one of those suckers!

you always write paragraphs and paragraphs and on and on....

anyway

Even though black bears may get close to griz, there IS a big difference
Grizzly's are far more agressive than black bears or any other bears for that matter

Eh...

'ain't got 'nothin on australian croc's. 20ft saltwater croc that hunts out in the open ocean and can take down 6-7 foot tall kangaroo's. :O

That deer is nothing, I saw Albob take one twice that size one night when he got home from drinking and Dominos was closed. Ate the bones and everything. Sick if you ask me. :D

Venison is about the best damn meat on the planet. Nice, lean and full of flavor. :lick:

Don't get me started on Venison. My ahole dad made about 50 lbs of venison jerky and ended up giving away most of it a week before I went to visit for xmas. I got home and the first thing I said was, "Where the hell is the jerky?" Let's just say when he showed me what he had left I snatched the bag out of his hands and scolded him good. :D

He used to send part of one deer away to be smoked and then cut into cold cuts. This was about the best damn thing I had ever tasted. I liken it to having turkey sandwiches 2 times a day after Turkey day, but Venison sandwich days lasted for nearly 2 months. My father is big into deer hunting and I have reaped the benefits for years.

You BASTARD. I wasn't hungry until you started rambling. :(

I fear mindless humans.

Mmmmm...venison! :lick: My freezer is currently lacking it! :(

 I'd like to get that printed on a t-shirt!

Dont read em if there to long. I'll take the gun away from your head kid. The biggest difference between griz and black bears is that black bears have killed and injured far more people. Course what do I know? Ive only hunted both, seen both in the wild, am 47yo and have been hunting for 39 years.

Been to 5 countries in Africa too, been there 4 times. The problem with kids your age is you dont read enough...................I got a freezer full of venison, elk, moose, goose, duck, antelope and even a few wild boar steaks. I wish I could E-mail some to some of you guys. BTW gators good eating, "tastes like chicken".............take care..........Rich

Most reptiles taste like chicken. They are a very lean white meat. Never eaten gator, but I have eaten rattle snake.

I agree. Nothing more impressive than a 20ft saltwater croc. I wonder if a shark has ever dared to attack one..

you wanna talk agressive bears

Yaknow a 14' croc is a monster. I mean a monster! I could only imagine a 20' aussie salty. Ive never been down under, and if I did go you can bet I'd avoid the salties. Whats a 20' 'er weigh? I bet over 3,000lbs.............Rich

It's hard to get a guage on how big some of these crocs are without a some sort of reference in the pic. I had some good pics on a cd, ill see if i can find it.
