Hi.

I was wondering if Sitting on a Chair can affect your..workout..your physique..your abdominals or anything.
What i mean is; All day in school I'm sitting for like 7 hours, then I go home after my workout relax a bit then sit on the computer for programming purposes or just to talk to people or come here. Problem is, I get bored so I'm on the computer pretty much until i go to bed at 11pm. Not straight to 11pm I get up and go upstairs and 'chill' for about 20mins or so but overall I sit a lot. Thats my problem.

I also realized how I'm the only one in my family that has a lot of fat stored around my waist eventhough I'm the only one who works out his ass off, everyone else in my family has toned and acceptable abs except me. So I was curious would sitting be causing me a problem?

This is the only thing I can think of -

maybe all this sitting has affected your posture to "hunch forward". That spinal hunch could have your anterior torso sort of "squish" down, maybe exaggerating a gut.
 
being sedentary all day will store lots of calories wether you work out hard or not. Its hard to overcome basically an entire day of sitting around. sitting in a chair all day could be bad for your posture/spine etc....
 
Well it's not like you can quit school so stop worrying about it.
90% of people sit around all day anyway.

Stop worrying about stupid stuff you can't change and focus on things you can.
 
excessive sitting can causes a variety of posture problems.
 
ya. I think because i sit so much forward that my stomach is always liked rolled upfront so fats go there or something, but anyways; summer's coming and im buying some soccer shoes, gonna go outside and play soccer like a maniac
 
I was going to say what Duncan said. But my hips kill me after work each day. I go home and stretch damn near each day!
 
true, i should add lots of strecthing.
 
thanks for the help guys. I asked this question because my dad is always like "WIth the amount of sitting you do, you'll never get rid of all that fat"...so i asked haha

being in one situational setting like that can be stressful... dont forget that a stressful environment can cause your body to store fat
