God this is getting craxy in my life. Back in 1983 I was as big and as strong as anyone. No I didn't look like a bodybuilder but more like a powerlifter.

From 1983 through 2004 I never touched a weight again. Now at 53 I look a lot better then I did at 51 due to training but just can't get where I want to be. I tried diets, cardio, gear and hard work at training. I just don't see myself getting to where I want to be. I'm strong for a 53 year old but don't can't seem to obtain the muscular shape that I want and don't know if It's possible. I'm not that far off my goals but seem that I'm not going to reach them as everyday I get older and that seem's to make it more impossibe.

Just needed to vent to my friends.

It's all good TOM, you're old. You had your glory days, you can't always be in the same shape as when you were 25. I guarantee you are stronger then most 50+ year olds and that's all that matters.

You could always try the bowflex...I remember that commercial with the hot ass 50 year old chick. Maybe if you train hard with the bowflex you could look like a 35 year old woman.

When I met Tough I thought he was 42 not 52, and he looked more fit than 98.87654% of all 42 year old men

Getting older = getting better.

There are always hills and valleys in our lives and in our bodybuilding endeavors. I've come to the realization that every aspect of the bodybuilding lifestyle must be relatively air tight if success is to be attained. That basically means being consistent every day and setting daily goals to keep you on track.

All things are possible when you believe them to be...

It's an uphill battle doomed to failure. But you're fighting it all the way and that's what matters. Take solace in that you'll be in better physical condition than the vast majority of tough old men.

Hey Tough, I have learned alot from you on this site, and I think many other people have done the same. I don't know you, but I don't think you're anywhere close to being done in the gym.........

We don't call you Tough for nothing! :thumb:

Hey Tough
I feel like the clock is ticking away also.
Don't quit on me now bro, I don't know you but Seriously, You are half the reason i am making solid gains
I am 53 and today is my birfday!!!
I was a 90# weakling all my life and now at 53 for the first time in my life because of you and the other nutcases on IM I have succeeded going from 185 to 205 and losing old man boobs and waist/tire fat at the same time.
I got some strength and muscles but I can't lift anywhere close to what yous guys can. But I won't quit till I reach 220-230 cause I'm working my way up to where I've never been. You my friend have to compare the present to what you had earlier. That might be harder to do.
It's a bitch getting on in life but look at all that you've experienced, shit what else is there. I take the position that many from our age group went to Vietnam and didn't get to see 53 so I use that as my inspiration.
Hell, Jack Lalane didn't slow down at 53, What about when you hit 63 god willing. when I'm 64(the Beatles) I want to be ripped and hard. Fuck them all and by then, there will be even more designer bullshit to get bigger.
We all want a piece of our youth back. But I will get ripped or die trying and I will crush anyone that calls me over the hill.
It ain't over till the fat lady sits on your face!
Oh yeah one more thing, just look around at all the 50 something jelly babies out there and tell me you aren't doing it right

Thanks you all for the kind words. I'm still going to give it 110% and that's all I can do.

Again thanks

:thumb: There you go you 53 year old BAD ASS!

All you can do is push yourself as hard as you can. Most people your age are probably totally envious of what you have accomplished.
