Does anyone have a solution for getting out of bed in the morning?

I am not a morning person and have noticed that my body craves 8-9 hours of sleep. However, even if I get that much, I still can't get up at say 6:00am. My problem is that I'll subconsciously hit the snooze, etc... and suddenly wake up at 8:00. Do any of you have solutions for getting up in the morning?

Damn alarm clocks

I have the same problem with needing to be up at 6am and body wanting to get up a 9am. I usually set my clock ahead so that I can snooze if I need to and move the damn clock away from the bed which forces me to get up and turn the damn thing off when it goes up which usually wake me up. Another thing you might want to do is diable the snooze button by ripping it out. Something should work for you.

For a while, I was setting my clock a half hour ahead and setting it early so that I could hit snooze. Soon thereafter, I always just added a half hour in my head and kept hitting snooze until I could finally get up. Then I started thinking that it was pointless to set my clock early and hit snooze, since I was then just getting less sleep overall (or interrupted sleep at the least)

The reason you want to snooze more is because your so comfortable and relaxed - have someone poor cold water on your face and you won't want to sleep anymore.;)

An important thing too is to have a regular sleep cycle so you have a consistent time you get up and a consistent time you try to go to sleep every night.

If you want to start getting up earlier you need to give your body a chance to adjust, otherwise you will be very tired for the first little while.

If anyone has any suggestions on supplements to take, sleeping positions, bedding etc... please post them!

it's a mental thing... i always hate waking up... but i'm used to it now... just remind yourself that you'll feel fine in half an hour or so once you've woken up...

I have to get up at 4am to work out the only way I could get in a routine was to set my alarm clock across the room and make a deal with myself, if I got up and did 50 pushups I could go back to bed guilt free, usually you are awake after this but sometimes you do crawl back in. after a while the routine is set and it gets easier. Or you could smoke crack:rolleyes:

I too like high amounts of sleep, 8+ hours, but if I have a regular sleep schedule I have zero problems waking up. Much of the time its morning wood that does it.

Amen to that brutha!

ajustana, you have been given good advice here but none of it is going to do a bit of good unless you get your butt out of the bed. I am not a morning person either, but a consistant sleep pattern is going to be key here. Crap, I can go on five hours of sleep if the pattern is consistant...although I dod not recommend it. lol Here is my morning routine, try it out...

Alarm goes off...
Hit snooze ONCE and get up to turn the light on or open curtains...
Alarm goes off again...
Curse the moron who invented the alarm...
Go into bathroom and splash cold water on my face...
Pop 2 Twinlab Ripped Fuel...
Go start a pot of coffee(decaf if you are caffein sensitive or taking ripped fuel...
Make protein shake in a shaker. Blenders suck in the morning. They are loud and suck to clean...
Grab cup of coffee and head in to take shower. Ripped Fuel usually kicks in while in the shower. Must be the hot water. Makes you feel you can concour the world...
Drink coffee while getting ready and performing the three S's;)
Almost forgot, always take a leak before starting this ritual.lol

Good luck you lazy sucker:p

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Try setting the alarm 5 minutes earlier every few days till you get to the desired wakeup time. It's not an abrupt butt kicker change that way.

i'd say the coffee is key... i'm instantly awake in the morning after having a cup...

Methylcobalamin

Pop a couple sublingual Methylcobalamin soon after awaking.

A recent German study appearing in Neuropharmacology showed methylcobalamin reduced the amount of time subjects slept; sleep quality was better and subjects awoke feeling refreshed, with better alertness and concentration. Part of this effect was apparently due to melatonin suppression during the daytime because morning methylcobalamin supplementation reduces drowsiness by decreasing daytime melatonin levels.

Skib...The problem is getting your lazy arse physically out of the bed to get your cup of coffee. Once you've climbed out of bed and start walking around it gets easier and easier; atleast for me.

do you snore? you might not be getting deep sleep due to a sleeping disorder. are you tired just in the morning or throughout the day?
you should wake up feeling energized and refreshed. it is either psychological or might be a problem. if you do snore, research sleep apnea and see a sleep specialist. good luck

FVCK! just reading this thread and thinking about waking up and my sleep habits pisses me off.. it just woke up from a 4hr nap and it's 12am and i know i ain't fallin asleep for awhile even tho i got class tomarrow morning.. and earlier today, i slept in and my frist class was at 4pm! sleep sucks!

Lots of interesting advice here. I have no "trick", really. When the alarm goes off at 4:45 AM, I just roll out of bed immediately and stagger into the bathroom. Turning on the light and brushing my teeth usually perks me up enough.

When I was a kid, I had a morning paper route (three paper routes, actually) for like five years. I was up at 5:00 AM every day for five years, no exceptions. That has conditioned me and has certainly made getting up in the morning easier now that I'm older.

Get a girlfriend............:hehe: :hehe: :hehe:

I usually wake up about ten minutes before my alarm, even if I have to get up at different times...I guess my body has one of those weird internal clocks.

I also hear IAB about having the habit of early rising...now that I have been getting up at 5:15 most days even on weekends I only sleep in until 7:30 and then I'm up and around. Drives my girlfriend nuts because she likes to sleep in and I'm bouncing around at 8AM.
