Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich scored a huge victory Monday, winning a key straw poll of Tea Party supporters.

The poll, taken among 23,000 Tea Party enthusiasts organized by the Tea Party Patriots, one of the nation???s biggest Tea Party organizations, had Gingrich winning with with 31 percent of their vote, registered in a conference call on Sunday night.

Coming in a close second was Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota, with 28 percent. Mitt Romney, the former governor of Massachusetts, pulled 20 percent; former Sen. Rick Santorum, 16 percent; Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, 3 percent; Gov. Rick Perry of Texas, 2 percent, and Jon M. Huntsman Jr., 0.3 percent, The New York Times reported.

Also Newt Gingrich has received the coveted endorsement of the highly influential Manchester Union Leader in New Hampshire, a boost for the 2012 Republican presidential candidate and a blow to rival Mitt Romney.South Carolina Newt should win and Florida. After

to bad Gingrich is going to get his ass whooped in the primaries....

Thank god anyway...that man is probably worse than obama

The Caucus and primaries start soon. The polls seem to be shifting away from Newt, but it's hard to make any call.

I wonder if Southern states will back Romney, being that he's a Mormon and it's the Bible belt (e.g. South Carolina) and Super Tuesday.

Isnt a "Straw Poll" just a much of overweight white men with long white beards sitting on haystacks in a barn wearing blue denim overalls and red, plaid long sleeve shirts?
Chewing on a wheat straw mumbling.... "uhmmhumm"

No one in the Bible belt will support him in the primary. But, they'll come out in droves to vote against Barry. I really hope that mormon cocksucker doesn't get the nomination. He's nothing but Barry with real-world experience and business success under his belt. Other than that, he is just as much of a democrat as anyone on the other side. His Romney Care was the exact same thing as Obama Care. If you look at both plans, they are identical. Like John Kerry, he was for it before he was against it. Similarly, he was for public funding of abortion before he decided to run for pres on the republican ticket. If he gets the nom, I'll probably vote for him, but it'll be a vote against Barry as opposed to support for Mitt. I actually voted for Kerry in 2004 for the same reason.

I would not be so sure about that, GOP governors are tanking in their approval rating in battleground states like FL and OH at less than 30%. the latest polls showed buyer's remorse in 7 of 8 states with newly elected GOP governors, with NV being the only only but only by a very small margin of votes.

It must be nothing short of amazing to live in your liberal utopia. Please tell us more about it. :coffee:

It's like Gingrich is in a political version of "Office Space." The more wild and crazy things he says just gets him more positive attention. He could probably drop his pants and moon everyone in a debate and people would go even more nuts for him.

all he does is talk. I couldn't find one piece of legislation that he proposed with his name on it, good or bad. wtf did he do for 20 years?

he lobbied his ass off and made millions!

Gingrich is a fool and has no chance of becoming president.

I wouldn't say he's a fool. But, you're prolly right as far as him having any chance of becoming president. I'd still take him over Barry anyday. I think he has far more governing abilities than the cat we have now.

The "anyone but obama" thing just doesn't appeal to me...

All we have done for years and years upon years is electing the same jackass with a different name.

I'm not taking up for Obama when i say that he hasn't caused all of this, but he hasn't. Bush caused a lot also. The presidents before that and the presidents before that. BUT its ALL our fault. We keep on voting for the lesser of two evils and screwing ourselves over!

We keep voting in the same corrupt assholes and we are so used to it that we don't care? That is silly if you ask me. I will NEVER vote for the lesser of two evils again. Ron Paul is my choice...
