Hi everyone

So theres this (higly rated) personal trainer who goes to my gym and today i noticed him putting 100grams of glucose into his protein shake. After a brief conversation as we were both rushing to get back to work i discovered that he was Bulking, just like me.

Anyway does anyone no the benefits of doing this and if i should introduce it into my diet whilst bulking?

he did say somthing about calories when asked but it kinda flew over my head! surely there are other benefits than just calories alone?

thanks in advance

Was this in a post-workout shake? Glucose (aka "dextrose", which you can buy for cheap at the you-brew) in a post-workout shake can be a very helpful thing when trying to put on mass. The glucose stimulates an insulin spike to get you out of catabolism, and shuttles nutrients (protein etc) into your muscle cells to help them reglycogenate and grow. Toss your creatine in there and you're good to go. It's not the only way to do this, but it's a good one and it's dirt cheap.

Thanks Built, for the quick response too.

Yes he was taking it straight after his workout along with his protein shake. Should this be the the only time to take it then?

Think im defo going to be investing to see if it helps things along

You can use dextrose instead of sugar if you like. It's just sugar - it just happens to be the right kind for post workout but it's still sweet and it's still calories.

You can use rice and chicken if you prefer. That's just carbs and protein, too. Dextrose and whey is fast, cheap and portable is all.

i use the same thing and creatine w/ grape drink w/ dextrose and oats ice cubes and blend it up. the only thing i use that u shoulodnt is epo and insulin wow now thats a bang. but if just the first 3 then its great for your muscles to stay pumped after they go down from training. if u do one before bed you wont wake up flat. i always wake up feeling pumped bad. all my muscles but that epo and insulin also helps.
