glutamine - how much and when?

I use it with cranberry juice . I take it 3 times a day 7-10g each time ... Depending on if my 2 teasppons are full or near full :D

It tastes good with all natural cranberry juice , I take about 100mL put the glutamine in there and chug it .

5-10 g on empty stomach, about 30 minutes before a meal at the following times:

-upon awakening
-pre workout
-post workout
-before bed

Simple :)
 
Thanks. Does anyone experience any side effects from this? I'm one of those sensitive stomach fockers!
 
re: glutamine side effects. I agree with gopro's recommendation of taking it pre \ post workout and before bed. Although if I do take before nap time I usually find I wake up early (about 4am).

Sorry premier but I have to disagree with you. I'v been trying to body build for 3 years with minimal results and its only now that ive started to take creatine and glutamine that ive started to note results. Im into week 3 of my first creatine cycle and although I know it helps muscle tissue retain water, im sure the glutamine is helping too. I feel stronger, have more energy in the gym and more determination to finish a set.

yea, well people swear by placebo in blind studies too.. If you have been training 3 years with minimal results, your diet was flawed, and possibly your training. You should look into those.
 
I take glutamine also.

but... roadkill added both creatine and glutamine and concluded the glutamine works. That's not necessarily true. It could just be the creatine.
 
So take it with cranberry juice? ANy other suggestions?

Can i take it mixed in with my PWO shake? and whey shakes during the day?

ONLY if you buy the PEPTIDE form. L-glutamine must be separated from the ingestion of complete proteins.

No. It was the glutamine that did it.
 
I've been taking L-Glutamine the last two years, every day. Workout days- 10g pre and post and 5g at bedtime. 10g on non-workout days. For me, I have noticed that my recovery time is quicker.

I read that since Glutamine and Creatine depends on the same amino acids, you are not suppose to take them together, is it true???

If it is, why so many of those Creatine delivery systems contain Glutamine???

:scratch: How do you know your recovery time is qucker if you have been taking it for 2 years? You do know that proper nutrition and rest going to help your recovery alot more so than glutamine will ever do right?
 
Let your own bicarbonate buffer levels return to normal (maybe a week or two) and you'll notice the extra soreness you may feel coming off long-term glutamine use discipate.

Very simple...glutamine peptides are effectively absorbed in an empty stomach environment, as well as in an environment of whole proteins. L-glutamine will not be properly absrorbed in an environment of whole proteins, however, and thus needs to be taken on an empty stomach.

Before I started taking L-Glutamine and after my workouts on a 3-day split I would need 2 days recovery time. After taking glutamine on a consistant basis I noticed I could finish my 3-day split within the week rather than 9 days. This supplement I feel works for me but may not work for others.

You can take them both together but, I would reduce the amount of glutamine because since creatine normally contains glutamine, they both compete for the same absorbtion receptors.

i think he must mean products like V12 and CEX. I know V12 contains some glutamine!

Yes, some "creatine products" contain ADDED glutamine, but creatine itself does not contain glutamine.

You are probably right about what he meant :thumb:

Gopro...not to stray too OT here, but I've been looking at V12 and CEX... Two fitness suppliers I use locally have both said CEX is really new and they haven't gotten any feedback yet on it, therefore they didnt want to reccommend it to me. V12, on the other hand, they said is fantastic...and everyone seems to really like it. I know you said CEX is awesome...I'm just trying to make the right investment... Thx. ;)

Absolutely, V12 is excellent! If you buy it, you should like it. All I can say is that I have used both and CEX is superior. Feedback that I have gotten tells me it is superior. But if you feel more comfortable with V12, thats cool. Do what you feel is best! :thumb:
