Ok I have been taking some L-Glutamine capsules but I don't think I am getting an effective amount I take 2 a day and they are 1000 mgs each...How many do you think I should take a day or do you think I should go to the powder form, If so what is a recommended brand that is of good value?

1000mg = 1gm which is bascially a waste. I wouldn't take anything less than 10 grams of glutamine at a time. caps are too costly get the powder in bulk. you can take anywhere from 20-40+ grams of glutamine a day depending on your goals, body size, etc...

What will this DO Lam? I've read about all the different effects of glutamine and I usually take like 10-15g a day, but I don't notice any effect... I just do it cuz it's good according to almost everyone. What effect would it have if me/this guy were to take 40g a day?

Glutamine is just an amino acid not found readily in foods. There are I believe 8 essential amino acids vital to life, that makes up a complete protein. But there are many other usefull amino acids that you can supplement with, Glutamine just happens to be one, for immune system function and so on.

Dont expect it to be like running a pro-hormone or anything of the like.

But what effect do you personally notice from it? Faster recovery? Faster gains?

L-glutamine is the most widely used amino acid by the body. at high dosages and taken at the right times it can help to reduce DOMS and catabolism...

When is the best time to take it? I've been taking 5 g first thing in the am. I'm cutting, 125 lbs, 14% BF.

the best times to take it are:

1st thing in the am
right before training
right after training
right before bed

* if you can only use it a limited number of times I would take it before and after training

So I should take like 5 g, up to four times a day? For a total of 20 g?

I wouldn't take less than 10 gram doses. the stomach hijacks a good portion of L-glutamine for it's own uses.

I have read that L-Glutamine should be taken on an empty stomach. If taken right after training, does that mean one should hold off on the PWO meal / shake? How long? And when you say right before training, is there a certain amount of time one should wait after eating a pre-workout meal before taking it? Same sort of questions I suppose for the first thing in the morning and right before bed -- does that mean I should wait a while before eating breakfast (how long?), and where would my bedtime meal fit in with the glutamine before bed?

Sorry about all the questions, but I have been considering taking L-Glutamine for a while now. Thanks!
