I read so many good things about Glutimine powder and how it helps you recover but is it really important to supplement with it? I drink about 3 muscle milk shakes a day but also throw in glutimine powder with each shake. Do I need the extra Glutimine? I guess Im taking about 20 grams of glutimine a day and thats not including whats already in the shakes and food. What do you guys think? Pretty much only muscle building supplemtns I take is creatine and muscle milk.

There have been several studies done on the value of Glutamine supplementation in replenishing glycogen stores, maintaining positive nitrogen balance and aiding in protein synthesis. The downside is that your small intestine destroys a lot of glutamine before it can enter the blood stream, so you have to dose pretty high. Usually, 20mg split into two doses a day for max benefit.

Here's one study if you are interested:

IMO Creatine and glutamine are the two of the most effective natural supplements for bodybuilding.

Don't Muscle Milk have glutamine in it? I think it does.

yes I know that Muscle Milk has glutimine already in it but I have to no idea how much. so ive been adding an extra 5 grams with each shake. i guess you really cant take too much glutimine but i also dont like to waste my money if i dont have to.

Don't it say how much is in there on the label? I know it's not too far down on the Muscle Milk ingredients list so there should be a substantial amount in there, I would think.

no its sure doesnt say how much anywhere on here. ya i guess it is about right in the middle as far as ingredients listed. so maybe throwing in an extra 5 grams with each shake is good bc people say i need to take A LOT of glutimine for it work. i just wonder if there is 5 grams in each shake or what.

You should also keep in mind that your body produces glutamine, as well. Dietary sources of glutamine include plant and animal proteins such as beef, pork and poultry, milk, yogurt, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, raw spinach, raw parsley, and cabbage. I am not sure how much is in each shake. I will see if I can find out.

But I do it nicely, don't I? <kiss> ;)
