the VA gets a bad rap, but in general it's substantially more cost effect than private healthcare.

it all depends on the location, it's really no different than the private sector. shit for many years the Summerlin hospital in Vegas in one of the best zip codes was killing people like no tomorrow because of sepsis.

I'm lucky never needed to go to the dr much at all but the last time in 1997 I was at the emergency room in the philly suburbs where i grew up and they had me waiting for 18hrs before I was seen by a doctor.

I've been misdiagnosed and not diagnosed at all there. Not even gonna mention what the naval hospital wanted to do to me, but between you & I, those phuqers were going to try and kill me!

Initially after my injury, fortunately for me, they outsourced my care to the best specialist outside the VA. I did have the best care because of that.

Once I became part of the system again too much hurry up and wait.

The VA get a bad rap because its true

I'm sorry you had to deal with this but my normal civilian dr once made a joke that went like this "know what the VA is? another chance for a soldier to give their life for their country"

that's always rung true for me

My last croker was ex-army surgeon with VA plaques all over his walls. He got out as soon as he could, he told me it's full of docs who either couldn't get jobs at civilian hospitals or guys making military pay doing work other docs are getting way better pay for so the motivation isn't as high, plus the workload is generally way higher.

Hope you recover quickly mate!

It's happening!!!

8 am tuesday:mooh::winkfinger:. I will keep every one updated. Sadly i wont be able to post pics till i get back home :(.

Yeah! Make sure the surgeon takes pics!

You'll have to change your handle to IchigoCyborg.

Cute nurses? Here its chubby white or black women or old filipinas in frumpy scrubs that they wore on the bus ride to work.

IM HOME:ohyeah:!! So ICU on Tues, they moved me on Wednesday, on Thursday morning i had the scare of my life. I woke early Thursday morning as i opened my eyes the sun was just filtering in to my room, it was strangely quite in my room. suddenly i start to hear music being played. As i open my eyes completely i realize it's Taps. "I was like, OH SHIT I DIED!!" . Then i saw the procession walking by my door and realized one of the other patients had died. Man i was so happy and sad at the same time. Happy for me and sad for him.:roflmao:

By the afternoon i was walking around the section twice. Due to a fast heart rate i had to stay on that ward until Monday. On Monday they moved me to rehab and im out today! The therapist couldnt believe the progress i was making, they had me walking up and down stairs all over the VA, if it was left to the therapist they would have sent my ass home on Tuesday. Of course i still have outpatient therapy for the next few weeks but im glad im here.
