I have a week off work and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try something new in my diet. I would like to try a vegetarian diet but I'm so lost as to what I would eat. I know the Giant by my house has microwavable vegiburgers but I cant live off that. What do vegetarians eat for meals? Is there a good website that could help me out?

anything made out of tofu...

Soybean or tofu

Don't do this....

You will be depriving your body and brain of the natural animal proteins they need!!! -

If you want to cleanse... Go get a colonic...

OR... do a vegetable juice fast... But for no more than 3 days - :scared:

seriously, people become vegetarians for specific reasons (health reasons, animal rights, what have you). You dont just decide on a whim, "Oh i'm gonna try being a vegetarian!" for no reason.

I am no one to tell you what to do. Hey, it's your body. However, it is hard to put on muscle on a balanced diet that DOES include animal proteins, so imagine trying to do that with limited sources of protein. I don't know what your goals are, what you're working toward. For all I know, you just want to be healthier, clean out your system or something. More power to you, and good luck. However if you're planning on packing on lean mass on a vegetarian diet be ready for an uphill battle...

For what it's worth, I have heard really good things abotu this book from a few people.

Why is it that all the vegetarian girls that I come across are chunky as hell? People associate eating a vegetarian's diet with weight loss and being skinny, and that is just not the case.

Because they don't eat a balanced vegetarian diet. They eat crap like pizza, tacos, french fries...anything as long as it doesn't have meat. Lol, my ex roomie was vegetarian. She ate pizza and tortilla chips everyday.

There used to be a vegetarian trainer in our club
She was skinny and emaciated

All the vegetarians I run across always have grey skin -

(The trainer was super grey + she was like Italian so her skin tone was supposed to
be a nice olive, but it was like olive-grey) - :barf:

I didnt' say i associated vegeterian lifestyle with being skinny. I said it would be hard to put on LEAN MASS (a.k.a. MUSCLE) on a vegetarian diet. Putting on MASS in general on a vegetarian diet is not as hard. In fact, as someone else pointed out, almost every vegeterian I've ever met is not only kinda gross-looking, but also flabbier (even if they are thin), and the thing about the skin is pretty accurate. There is SOMETHING amiss about their skin tone. Not every veg, but most that I've met or know.

I'm no nutritionist, and this is by no means an "expert" comment. Just speaking from what I"ve seen/read/heard...

There is a girl at my gym who is all about vegeterianism and organic foods and raw foods and macrobiotics and all that. Despite all her "healthy eating" (by her standards) her ass is still the size of a small third world country.
