I've never done good mornings before but i did them yesterday, just 1 set of like 10, with not even alot of weight because i wanted to see if i could get the form down, but i did squats and deads before i did the good mornings, and my hams are pretty sore, not sore enough to not walk but a good amount of soreness, todays my day off and i think theyll be fine my next leg day, but my question is maybe i did the good mornings wrong, for some reason i keep my legs very straight almost like when you bend down to stretch your hams and do my good mornings like that? is that how there sopose to be done? like are you sopose to keep your legs straight? its almost like a stretching exercise with weight, any insight please?

you have seen the person at a wedding that keeps their legs locked while standing and then they pass out. well same goes for the goodmornings, you always want a little bend in your knees. good luck, and enjoy the doms.

ok thanks ill try that next time, i tried it right now with my body weight and i feel the stretching of the hams, ill just work to incorporate more ham stretching and work in the good mornings little by little thanks

Also, since youve never done them before, that would explain the soreness in that area. The more you do them, the soreness should subside somewhat.

Doesn't sound unusual. Hypers hit my hams more than my back, also.

GM's can be done with straight legs or bent. I don't suggest completely locked out knees through the movement of the exercise though. I don't know why you are suprised, GM's are a very hamstring involved movement. Regardless of volume, sometimes just doing a new movement is a strong enough factor to induce DOMS.

Yea hams are the muscle you should be hitting as well as your lower back. Good mornings are awesome and they don't take a lot of weight to really hit them.
