I don't see an unauthorized purchase in this case?

There's no way he's getting his money back, regardless of the type of card he used. He authorized the purchase, and there is nothing suspicious about the bill as far as the amount goes. His story would basically be: I was so intoxicated at the time, that I didn't review the bill before signing it and did not obtain a copy. Yet I was sober enough to recall the exact number of drinks I ordered, there prices, so I know they overcharged me a 100 dollars. No card is going to get his money back.

I only install the stuff so the full functions of these POS terminals I am not familiar with. but I do know that depending on the system transactions can be changed/altered or the clerk can simply overcharge the customer and pocket cash from the register.

I'm reading it fine. No, there is nothing suspicious about the amount. Spending 150 dollars for a night of drinking at an overpriced strip club is not out of the ordinary. If the bill was 2000 dollars that would send up red flags and you might be able to make a case just on the amount alone. He needs a special reason to challenge the bill since he signed for it.

He didn't spend $150. I'm really not sure what part of that you're not understanding. :hmmm:

I get what you saying, but he signed the receipt and has no idea how much he signed for. He really has no idea if the guy intentionally overcharged him or not. Or if he was so drunk he spent more than he remembered because if you're to drunk to look at the receipt/ get a copy then you have to be pretty hammered.

He did spend it when he signed for it. Do you understand that?

No I don't understand that because that's NOT what he signed for. Here's his quote from the OP:

I walked out of the club thinking I only spent $50 bucks (that is what I signed for) .

I'm late to party but every time I go go titty bar and open tab they pre authorize it for ~$200. Then they know your good for it. It shows up as s pending purchase for a couple of days along with what ever the real amount was. Then the pending charge will just drop off.

How do you know what he signed for when he doesn't? He doesn't know what he signed for because he didn't look at the bill. He thought he only spent $50, but he has no idea what the bill was. Not sure what part you don't understand. Is it that as an adult you have responsibilities as a consumer? No credit card will give a shit what you "thought" you spent. Only that you had the chance to review the bill, that you then signed, and then had a chance to obtain a copy. Once that criteria is met, you've authorized the purchase.

Had this happen to a buddy in Vegas to the tune of 15,000. He has no recollection of the night and somehow woke up in his bed. To this day he catches shit for his buddies bachelor party.

You never bring cards when you know you're gonna get fucked up beyond oblivion, its rule #2 of Wastoid lifestyle, Rule 1 is to latch onto the idiot in your group who opens a tab on his card and buy drinks on his tab. Now days you can get a pre-paid card and put the amount you're willing to part with on that, but remember Rule 1.

Good advice there. Never even thought to get a prepaid card. Maybe this is why I don't frequent strip clubs anymore lol. The ones where I live aren't full nude so it's a waste of money anyways. The girls wear bikinis and dance 3 feet away from you then you have to tip them lol.

Few things here:
1. it could have been a preauthorized amount. Call the strip club and ask why there's a $150 charge on your account when you only spent $50 total, you should see it go back to the actual amount charged within a few days on your statement. If they it wasn't preauthorized then dispute it. Gas stations do this all the time for gasoline, think about it.
2. Always use a credit card or cash for places like this. Credit cards offer much better consumer protections for fraudulent activities. If you use a bank debit card and there's a dispute, the bank can literally tie that money up for weeks during the investigation - this will not happen with a credit card. (Pretty sure this is what LAM said).
3. Stop falling in love with strippers, they're masters are pulling our heart strings through our cocks.

You got a reading problem? What part of "that is what I signed for" aren't you getting? He didn't say he thought that was what he signed for, he stated flat out that was what he signed for. He THOUGHT he only spent $50 BECAUASE that is what he signed for.

Do you not understand that what his drunk ass "thought" is irrelevant in the authorization process. I could always claim without proof that some bill was overcharged later... There is an authorization process, which he completed. Except the optional part of getting a receipt for his records. Bottom line, he is an adult and needs to be more responsible with his money. I'm done here.
