Right i dont know if its just badly designed machines that i use but i often struggle getting the last reps out of a machine / dumb-bell workout as my hands give way throgh discomfort and slipping...

Is it worth investing in gloves or are just simple ways of improving your hand strength with special excercises similar to stress balls that you squeeze?

Thanks in advance :)

You could always get some straps. But Ive noticed that it weakens your grip a little as well in the long run. I would just get a forarm routine it will help... there is one on here somewhere.

Chalk will do nicely on lifting motion like deadlifts, rows and pulling motions like pulldowns etc ..

On pulling exercises, you could also use a patch of wrapping foam to put between your hands and the bar:
no loss of grip, and yet no more pain in the palm of your hands (and no more gay-coloured gloves :D ).

If your hands are slipping when doing curls etc .. for heaven's sake, use lighter weight and control your form,
you're obviously trying to hoist a weight that is too heavy for you!

My gym is full of less than desirable equipment, including the DBs and bars. I use Roebi grips instead of gloves. I love these things.

Static holds. Load up a barbell and hold the fucker till it drops out of your hand.

I have a good grip, it comes with time but I have to wear gloves cause my hands sweat to much and my gym doesn't like people using chalk.

Right thanks all... I'll give the static holds and forearm steps a go and let you know of any improvements after a week :)

My grip went to shit today since i, like a dumbass grabed a buring hot pully on a lawn tractor wich branded me good on the palm of my hand. I dont know how those guys get those branded things on there arms. Damn did it hurt.

This will be a problem unless you do some grip work
to "catch up" in grip strength.
static-holds,plate holds,rollers,grippers etc.........
