I know doing heavy squats and deadlifts secrete the human growth hormone in great amounts, stimulating muscle growth throughout the body. But HGH does more than just increase muscle mass, it is also responsible for the generation of cells so would it be possible that doing heavy squats and deads would increase my height naturally at a faster pace as well?

i do not believe ive ever heard of doing heavy leg work causing higher levels of growth hormones

ive always heard higher levels of testosterone..

could be mistaken, either one of us

Heavy squats do increase the secretion of the HGH throughout the body along with testosterone. They do your whole body good with increased overall mass and power. Im just wondering if the great release of the GH from doing squats would also increase my height at a faster pace as well so I would be a taller adult. Not like I really need any extra height at 6'2 at the age of 17 (18 on february). Im just wondering if its possible because the great secretion of HGH cant be selective so that it only induces muscle growth, right?

its possible

i believe lou ferrigno gained a considerable amount of height on hgh, if im not mistaken

Height is predominantly determined by your genetics. Most males reach their full height by their late teens.

No, squatting and deadlifting will not make you taller.

yeah... i dont think squatting and deadlifting will make you any taller...
if anything shorter via compressed spine and leg joints...

thats a big "IF anything"

i was just saying

when ferrigno made his "come back" in the late 90's
i believe he gained height

Lou's comeback (masters competition) was not the late 90s, and he certainly didn't get taller.

Do you see Jay Cutler over 6 foot now? Nope.

maybe it was early-mid 90's

fuck it

I swear everything you read you take out of context Golden.

I think it will make you grow taller if you inject the GH up your ass.

:roflmao:

Sorry sorry, I had to do it.

:wtf: Really? Seriously?

Your growth plates close in your early 20's. What makes you think HGH will open them up?

God dammit! I keep believe I just responded to this damn thread.

I wish there was a helldump here.

In other news, no, you wont get any taller. Though big compound movements like squats and deads will go a long way towards total body development.

I keep hearing that basically every muscle on your body is worked via heavy squats because your entire body from the shoudlers down support the immense weight you are bearing, and that this is the reason why every muscle in the body gets increased in size and power. Isnt it the large release of hormones that creates the overall gains or are the all the muscles actually worked which create this totalbody affect?

PS: fish oil rocks!

its more or less a combination

for instance

your forearms are not getting worked like your quads are...
but the increased hormone levels will effect the growth in them

your lower back
abs
thighs
shoulders

probably even your neck muscles via isometric flexation

there is alot of muscle activation going on, which is the reason for the increased hormone levels

the micro trauma is the reason the hormones are properly utilized by the body

Yea but if the amount of anabolic hormones being released throughout the body is dependent on how many muscles are under stress at the same time, then wouldnt the deadlift be the better mass builder because it obviously works much more muscles.

The squat is definately the scarier exercise because you got this bigass load rested on your shoulders and you have to squat down and up hoping you will make it through. It requires more mental strength.

Deads recruit more muscles IMO. Deads and squats are king kissing cousins and required movements as far as I'm concerned.

Now stop asking retarded questions.

If you're going to insult me please use the English language a bit better.

What the fuck are you talking about? Muscles under stress? Mental strength? Did you just make that shit up or what?

Whether deadlifts are more beneficial than squats is a matter of opinion. There are no facts to substantiate either as being better. There is no data to suggest that one will induce more release of GH than the other. There is no data to sugest that deadlift is a better mass builder than squats.

The situation can not be tested for since no two human beings are the same. Results vary for every person. To say squats are more impressive than deadlifts due to x, y, and z reasons is nothing more than opinion and a waste of time. Our own genetics determines how we will respond to a specific exercise. Some people might get better over all mass gains focusing their attention on squats, some deadlifts. It really shouldn't matter, because a good program would have both in there, that is unless you have an injury that makes one feel unsafe to perform.

Every muscle in your body is not worked during squats. That is the dumbest shit I have heard in weeks. Read this:

Barbell Squat

Now pay real close attention to the muscles being recruited.

Now look at this one:
Barbell Deadlift

There are more stabilizers being recruited during a deadlift. Other than that, the movements are pretty much equally useful for all intensive purposes.

Ninja edit: Stop asking stupid questions, and spend more time perfecting the basics.

i think if i supplement fish oil... it could make my body secrete more growth hormone, and indirectly increase my height...

the miracle of fish oil....

is this guy another danny81?

i have just got dumber from reading this thread..
p.s i heard if you do squats your dick will grow 5 ft long

Everyone at IM has a 5ft dick. Even the women.

because we all advocate compound movements...
including the squat and dead lift

the 5ft cock is just a byproduct
