So...I'm w/ a client yesterday and I notice this big fukker doing some really funky core exercises. I so wanted to go up and talk to him just because of the exercises he was doing. II had no idea who it was....but I knew he wasn't just joe blow. But I was busy w/ someone so I couldn't.

Anyway...I find out today that it was Paul Chek!

Does anyone know the freaking odds of Paul Chek being in my gym???

And I missed him. :bawling: :sob:

My life sucks. :fire:

lol, that would suck but at least you get people like that in your gym now and then.
The only celebrity types I've ever seen at my gym were the Snowbirds once.

W8, I can feel for you. That reminds me of the time, oh, about two years ago when I went to see Steve Vai play in Detroit.

Having been a fan of his since '86, I was TOTALLY geeked up to meet the guy, get an autograph, talk to him....Oh, hold on... I DID GET TO MEET HIM AND ALL THAT COOL SHIT

So, guess I can't really sympathize with you on the same level.

Is there a moral to this, other than you're probably gonna kick my ass if you ever meet me? Seriously though, sorry ya didn't get to meet the big guy, it's fantasitic to meet those you look up to.

That sucks.... I would be highly upset, too!

Realize that YOU are a hero to many of us here, W8!

(Must keep foot out of mouth, must keep foot out of mouth)

Uh oh....doesn't quite feel like I'm off the hook yet!

Ummm...well there w8, you've gotta know I ain't bullshittin' ya, 'cuz I pointed out YOUR very much appreciated assistance in the past in my VERY FIRST JOURNAL ENTRY!

(Someone take this shovel away from me...I keep digging deeper and deeper)

When I went to the local PowerHouse Gym, we had a couple of exibitions/presentations by some local BBs, but never anyone on a pro circuit of any sort.

You never did mention what the heck Paul Chek was doing in your gym????

He was doing something at Queen's...a seminar or something...taking, not giving one, lol.

FUk...I know...front squats on a swiss ball ...totally cool :D

I can't even kneel on the ball for very long yet :o

There's no way I could ever do that or even try BUT I bet when he got off that ball, its half flat.

Oh didn't you know, Prince.... the man then jumps about 4 ft in the air and then somehow lands back on the ball... bar and all!

I do not see the point of this.

...and you must be a "bodybuilder"

Just the fact he has the core strength to be able to do that is bloody impressive. That is the point. He is front-squatting on a freaking ball!!!

He looks like a short man. Lower center of gravity. Has nothing to do with core strength.

Get a 6'-4" person doing that and that would be core strength!!!

What does front squatting 135lb on a ball have to do with core strength?
I know I couldn't do it but it's because of balance not core strength.

Well...why don't you try it and tell me what kinda stabilizers you use? Do you not think that balancing on a ball in itself (never mind front squatting 45's) uses your core musculature? :D

You would use more core muscle I agree but once you've mastered the balancing part, It'd be a piece of cake.
Not trying to be a smart ass but if you've ever tried to do any kind of balancing act, once you get the hang of it, the use of core muscles is greatly reduced.

I would say it took him a long time to master it, but I also think anyone could do it if they put the time into it.

No way, Jose! (w8)... I can do a lot of flexible things such as Kick boxing and stretch to a full split but on a ball with 135 lbs.? I do NOT have a death wish! So go ahead guys!

On the other hand, I got a better idea! I'lll lay on the ball and my client (female, thank you!!!) can work on her squats that way! :eyebrow: :eyebrow: Damn, that was written write out of DP's book!

Yeah....and as they practice, they're developing and improving their core strength!

One summer, as a teen, I got a job sanding the floor in an old school. I had to use this orbital floor sander, kind of looked like a lawn mower but with no wheels.
Anyway, you could use muscle to make the thing go from side to side but once you got the hang of it, you could use just a finger with the right balance it go on its own, I got good enough that I could actually stand on it and shift my wight from side to side to make the thing work.
All I'm saying is once you get the balance thing down, just like skiing or riding a bike, it becomes second nature and takes no effort at all.

As far as his stunt goes, I wouldn't attemt it simply because of what could happen to you if you fell backwards.

Keep your balls in the play yard!;) ;)

Medicine balls can stay.
