i have an off campus lunch hour (highschool) and a subway is close by. I was just wondering if you would consider this an ok lunch for a cutting diet looking at about 1500cals a day

Atkins Wrap
Tuna
Lettuce
Tomatoes
Cucumbers
Green Peppers
FF itl dressing

16oz diet coke

remember, this is everyday, day in, day out. My other meals are pretty much even, but i cant always go home during lunch for a meal because i end up being late, even if i prepare it earlier.

....or am i just better off with a protein shake?

I'm no diet expert, but one thing I will recommend is to kill the coke. Diet or otherwise, the sugar in coke is an enemy :finger:

sugar in diet coke, please explain TYVM :D

Well hi my lovely Greek.... Diet Coke contains .1 gram of sugar.
Hmmm I was under the impression that it contained much more.
I sowry. But one thing I can say is that Diet products like Coke contain artificial sweetners and additives which in my mind are garbage. Once in awhile ok, but the point you made was that you were consuming this daily. In addition to artificial sweetners and the additives they contain sodium I believe that attributes to making you hold water. Not sure exactly if that is true, but is what I have heard. In any case, your much better off with water or tea. This depends on how serious you are with your diet and health I guess. I drink a coke or 2 on my cheat days, but try to avoid them during the week. If I'm going to drink a coke, it sure the hell is not going to be a nasty diet coke . I go with the good stuff :D

I have to have my one diet coke a day!!! I would die without it. LOL

I cut the diet soda the last week before shows and I'm a grouch in the morning without it.

I can understand that JLB, I'm that way without my coffee. :)
But I love coke too. When I was in my twenties I used to be a big beer drinker, loved it. Then I got health conscience and gave it up completely. After that, I seemed to substitute it with drinking coke :(. After finding out how fast my belly was growing I gave that up too. Now I still love a coke once and awhile, but definately had to take it out of my daily routine. I sure wish it didn't put the pounds on though, I would be drinking it every day too :).

Agree JLB...i love my diet coke and have it right thru my prep for a comp, but cut it in the last 2 weeks before the show.xx

Does this go for de-caf coffee as well?? Me and caffeine do NOT mix well at all.

i like when they come out with reports like:

"a glass of red wine a day is good for your heart"
"chocolate is good for memory"

that just gives people more motivation and justification to eat things that are mostly bad for them.

lecithin, found in chocolate can be good for memory, cholesterol, etc....but does it outweigh the negatives found in chocolate...hell no...get lecethin somewhere else

red wine.....grapes have natural antioxidant properties...alcohol is not good for you.. period...so does red wine have some beneficial properties...yes.....is it better to avaid red wine and get these antioxidants somewhere else?...yes

on the other side of the coin....you gotta live...so dont go thinkin i dont get shitty drunk while eating chocolate (sounds like a good night to me)....but i dont do it often and i am under no illusion that it is good for me in any way

everything in moderation

I like alot of sodium in my diet when I'm trying to bulk up.

DrChiro,

Actually studies have shown that alcohol consumed within moderation can have some major health benefits. It is not just the grapes in red wine that are good for you. If that was the case then people would just eat grapes, why drink the wine?

There will always be studies and theories. It's up to you as to what to believe and what not to believe. But the studies regarding alcohol being good for you in moderation has been known for a long long time. I myself do not drink alcohol, but one small alcoholic beverage consumed daily I believe can be beneficial. I'm not sure if consumed in this manner would pose any adverse affects for body builders?

Unsweetened cocoa is a great way to get the antioxidants in chocolate. I have two mugs a day.

Peace.

And about the lunch at Subway, I don't know why you can't just pack something with you.

Peace.

i carry chicken breast with me. I go to my GF night class with her armed with 2 of them in a pack in the cargo pockets of my pants.

ridiculous? yes. Necessary? very.

but there doesnt really seem to be anything wrong with the tuna wrap now is there?
