Currently I am 330lbs.
I am sick of being fat and I really want to lose this weight.
Can you help me out?

About me.
I am a computer tech so the majority of my day is spent behind a desk and a workbench. After work I go to the Gym, for the past week I have been going to the GYM and using the cross-trainer. I usually burn 500/600 calories on the machine. 30 minutes of exercise.

I have quit drinking soda, and quit munching on anything and everything all of the time. It's hard because I still want to snack in the evening.

My wife is on the Atkins diet and seeing results. I tried this a few weeks ago and after a week I gave it up because of the way I was feeling. Tired a lot a little dizzy on occasion etc...

I really need help.. what should I do to get the weight off? Should I go back to the Atkins or should I just count calories? I don't want to lose all of my muscle and keep my fat..

Any suggestions will be GREATLY Appreciated...
P.S. I am at work right now but will read the stickies tonight...

I feel your problem most of my day is spent working at a computer. Atkins and training don't really go hand in hand. One of the best ways to lose fat slowly and keep it off is weight training. As your skeletal muscle mass increases you burn more calories, it also improves your shape. Counting calories is a good start also try looking at the type of foods you're eating. Try to cut down the amount of simple carbs in your diet and replace them with complex carbs. Read the stickies in the diet and nutrition forum they are a gold mine of information.

Good Luck :thumb:

So far today I have eaten.

Breakfast
1 Bagle w/ creamcheese(teaspoon) 250 cals
1 Yogurt 100 cals
Water

Lunch
Subway Roasted Chicken Breast 330 CALS add 50 cals for mayo
120 CAL lowfat chips
Water

Dinner
I plan on eating 2/3 skinless boneless chicken breast on the foreman and maybe a salad w/ lowfat dressing

how does this look?
At 330 lbs I should be able to consume 3,300 cals and stay at the same weight. My goal is to try and eat 2,500 Cals or less per day which is 800 less then my BMR.

So... if 3,500 Calories = 1lb of fat then it would take 4 days to lose one pound. How can I increase this...?

but then again according to this site http://www.soyouwanna.com/site/syws/loseweight/loseweight2.html CAL instake for the day should be 5830 and I should lose one pound per day for a while anyway

terrible.....you are making the mistake almost everyone does, you are starving yourself. you have to eat to lose weight. eating increases your metabolism. as was mentioned, educate yourself with the stickys then come back with any questions you may have. welcome.

I was in your same boat about two months ago. The stickies have alot a great info in them!! I have been eatig right and exercising and hav lost about 20lbs. After you read the stickies you'll have a good idea of where to start:thumb: Just make sure to stick with it if you really want it, I always said I was going to trim up but was always to lazy to get my ass off the couch and wish now I would have started sooner.

you'd be better off splitting those 3 meals into 5 smaller meals. this will increase your metabolism

if you have to eat out at lunch try a subway with chicken and salad on wholemeal bread. no mayo, no chips and no cheese

Ok thanks for the input.. Ill read more on the stickies when i get home

First and foremost, congrats on taking THE step towards changing your life!
Now u must realize that this has to be a lifestyle/lifetime change for it to #1 work and #2 if you wish to keep the weight off!

There are loads of fad diets out there (Im not a beleiver in the Atkins diet, but it does work for some), but the key is to learn to feed your body, not your brain! We have a tendency to eat coz it tastes good and makes us feel good (momentarely), while we should simply be providing our bodies with what they need to function properly. I mean that U should use food as fuel, not comfort in any way, shape or form! At the same time, U have to allow certain "breaches" as your brain wont instantly agree with your nutritional changes and cheats are often necessary to keep ur sanity!
