I think I understand if you are using an alternative grip so 1 palm over, 1 palm under the bar you wrap the strap around the bar in the opposite direction which gives you better grip.
It doesn't matter which way your hands are facing, supinated or pronated - the strap is supposed to lock the bar in your hand.
There are only TWO directions you can go, one is OBVIOUSLY wrong and one is obviously going to lock that sucker to your hand. Even when your grip starts to fail (the leather makes the bar thicker which wears out my forearms a bit), it will be held onto the wrist relatively well. I lose some flesh from time to time on the wrist from this strain to the skin.
IN SUMMATION
There are TWO possible directions for the strap to go, one is right, one is wrong. USE YOUR BRAIN and it will be very easy to figure out.
