Whats up people, ive been cutting the past month and a half and ive lost about 14 pounds...im really happy about it, and im getting better strength, stronger. Im still trying to figure out which routine is best for me...i like my routine now, its like a 5-day split where i give each muscle like a week off afterwords, its a fun routine...but its not helping me get much stronger, well maybe thats because im cutting....but even when i was bulking it wasnt working...so i guess i should say i dont like the routine. my overall goal is to drop about 40 pounds by May...i want to look lean, toned. i figure im sick and tired of going back and forth between routines, and i thought id do a Compound lift routine...i know whenever i do compound lifts, i seem to burn the most calories and feel the most exhausted after my workouts, like i actually accomplished something...lots of people criticize the way my routines are...im 20 years old, and one of my workout buddies told me at my age, i shouldnt give such a LONG rest for every muscle...which currently i give like 5-7 days rest, he told me that 48 hours is better at my age, especially if my overall goal is fat loss. The routine im thinking is quite simple..its like day on, day off, day on day off kinda thing...i may end up spending 2 hours in the gym doing it, but ill sure as hell (can i say that? my apologizes if it offends any of u) can say that 2 hours of hard compound lifts will burn a lot off...

Day 1: bench, squats, deadlifts, power cleans, military presses, bent over rows, possibly dips.

Day 2: Off

Day 3:bench, squats, deads, cleans, military presses, rows, dips

Day 4: Off

Day 5: bench, squats, dead, cleans, military presses, rows, dips.

Day 6: Off

U get my point.....does that look good? Some of u may think its overtraining...idk? ive heard of rippetoes but i really think that this will work better for me...and of course after every workout i do about 20 minutes of low-intensity cardio.

you are going to do the same things everyday?

I suppose you could (although, I wouldn't), but, what is the loading going to look like?

I don't think this is a good set up at all actually.

Have you read through the stickies?

what do u mean loading?

i hear ya, but im fed up with what i do already...i workout one muscle a day, 20 minutes for bis/tris....and 40 minutes for bigger muscles and still i cant gain anything. i used to do 2 a day, didnt work for me...i used to do everyday non stop, didnt work.....so i thought id try every other day, total body like that.

Did you read the stickies? Particulary training101 and setting up a program? they have a lot of ways to set up total body workouts.

loading is sets and reps and intensity and how they progress.

oh ok.

well ill probably do a warm up set or two.....and then do 3 sets after that...and once im done ill do a very light set (someone told me its good for lactic acid build up). and every week ill try to add 5-10 pounds extra. ill do about 10 reps per set.

a) again read the stickies.

b) your program can be re-worked into something more efficient.

c) don't do power cleans for that many reps and start your workout with them.

ill definetely read them, out of all the compounds i lifted...i dont see where im working my biceps, and biceps are important...id like to add in some workouts that work the biceps too.

biceps get worked on pulling movements like chin ups and rowing.

a whole workout dedictaed to biceps is a waste of time. Work on developing your musculature as a whole and you will grow. The biceps are a very small muscle.
