Can someone please tell me what is the best and most appropriate exercise I should do for the following departments...

- Lower Chest (is it important to train this anyway?)
- Lower Abs
- Lower Oblique

------------------
Work hard, play hard, and sleep well.

Decline bench, weighted crunches, and side bends.

------------------

Lower chest = Dips if you can do them and if not decline press with the dumbbells and press directly over your lower chest with your abs tight.
Low Abs = Leg raises
Oblique = Side bends

------------------
If you build it they will come

What else is there to say? I wouldn't worry to much about your lower chest though.. just do Flat Bench and your whole chest will grow.

I don't use decline presses, flat and incline.

TheSupremeBeing, I thought you said it's impossible to isolate one area of the pecs? Did you change your opinion on this, or did I misunderstand you?

What do you mean, the declines?

I recommended declines because they are the best chest press, so they will make the whole chest grow the most, and consequently the "lower" chest will grow the most. I would have actually recommended cable cross-overs, but I'm sure he would have got the wrong idea.

I see.

I thought you were saying that declines are used to isolate the lower chest. Since the original question was what exercise is best for the lower chest, and you answered decline presses.

BTW, I actually had "enough with this fookin muscle shaping BS" in that post to begin with, but big bad Large-n-Charge edited it out.

For lower oblique, I prefer to perform side bends using a really heavy dumbbell until there is this big stretch. Usually I will feel rather sore in my oblique courtesy of the aforemention sidebend, but that's the whole point.

As far as lower Abs goes, I like to superset Knee Tucks with deline leg raises. Remember to squueze your abs as hard as possible to ge a better 'burn'. I believe it will be even more effective to do ab training after Cardio.

I agree about the dips being about the best chest exercise. They work great for low reps and heavy weight if you have healthy shoulders.

Do dips even if you can't do them. Sound strange? Given a choice between bodyweighted exercises and those using a bar you should ALMOST always chose the bodyweight exercise, even if you need to strap on extra iron. In the case of dips, if you can do even one with your body weight, start at the top and do negatives. Your strength will explode. Dips are about the best pec exercise know to man. (If done properly, of course.)
