Hi,

I'm a 20 year old male. I've been lifting weights for 2 years now, ever since I started college. I've been working out my back, shoulders, chest, biceps, triceps every 2-3 days.

The past few days, I've had a slight discomfort feeling in the very middle of my upper back, in between my shoulder blades. The other night it was very sharp and I felt it alot after I was done working out my shoulders, chest, and biceps. The night before, I worked out my back.

I'm curious to know what this sounds like. Could it be a pulled back muscle tissue? Should I stop working out everything until it feels fine? I want to work out my shoulders, biceps, and chest tonight but I just started feeling it about an hour ago. What does it sound like this could be?

Thank you

It sounds like your working out too much and are overtrained. A pulled muscle or strained muscle possibly.

sounds like you may have pulled a muscle bro, and how is your form? Was your form good throughout the movement?

That's what I cant decide....if it means I'm overtrained or if it's just the good feeling of being sore

Sounds like you should take a break for a week. Better safe than sorry, you wouldn't want to have it turn into a really serious injury. You should be taking a week off every 8-10 weeks of working out anyway.

Also, are you working out your legs? I would definately recommend that you do.

Doesn't sound like soreness to me. If it's possible to train with very light weights or using exercises that don't aggravate the injury, then do so. Otherwise, take some time off.

yeah i agree with this take a week off better safe than sorry.

Thanks for the tip...Looks like I'll be taking a week off. Coincidentally, I got a sore throat today, meaning no gym, at least for a week! :)

I forgot to mention that i DO work out legs, particularly my quads and calves.

Thanks everyone!

I am just curious but when you have this sharp pian is it hard to take a deep breath?

well the reason I asked is because I was experiencing the same kind of nagging pain and then one day I moved wrong and it felt like somebody had stuck a knife in my back. I couldn't take a deep breath and that nagging pain was amplified X 10. I went to the Doctor and he sent me to a chiro and come to find out I had slipped two ribs out of place. It bothers me off and on and that has been two years ago. But I haven't had an attack like that one since. I am not saying that is what is wrong with you but the irritation sounds the same, ( the pain between the shoulder blades) It was just a thought. good luck!

Thats the funny thing I am not quite sure how it happend it just did.
