Hey guys... Love the board. Just registered. Anyways, I turn 20 in about 3 weeks and I was just hoping for a bit of advice. I'm studying hardcore (double maj) and I barely have time to squeeze in my diet, and after buying a bottle of rum a week Im left with about $10.

Now, I'm fairly lean these days, actually, reasonably cut, I workout hard every other day etc. Only problem is abs. I can't get the damned sixpack, Im nicely toned in every other way at 5'11" and 190 lbs and I know abs are about 80% diet (quoted from a member on here as well) and mine are quite stronog, but I just don't have the time and resources to eat skinless chicken, green beans, and a f**ing carton of egg whites every day.

Anyone have a good diet that sounds a little more realistic to a student. Something just like, "cheerios and OJ for breakfast, Tuna Salad sandwhich for lunch, turkey and bacon sub for dinner, and mushroom soup for later on' I mean, its not bad, but the abs aren't coming and I need some help!!

Thanks in advance guys.

BTW - anyone else think the Sexual Health board is a little carried away?

My advice:

1) drop the rum
2) wake up earlyier and cook your eggs and oatmeal
3) cook all you food for the week on one day (ie Suday) and pack it into tuperwares so that you can just grab and go.
4) No excuses....you gotta want it. These are not good excuses at all. I and a lot of others here are very busy yet we manage to get our diet and training strait because this is what is important to us and this is what we care about. I was a college student once and there are many college students here that work around there busy class schedules and set their goals and priorities and make sure they get this stuff done. You just have to do the same thing....Like I said, You gotta want it.

Yeah i just cook everything at once and buy the egg whites that come in cartons so you can just pour em out and cook em up.

I'd have to agree. Rum should be at the BOTTOM of your list. (It really shouldn't be on it at all).

Depending on how much your are spending on that bottle of rum, I'm at a loss for how much $$ you have to spend each week.

Not that money prescribes what your diet will look like, but it does play a part (ie, can you afford to eat what you should?)

I hate that money is such a factor in getting healthy. Its hard buying tuna and lean pieces of meat for around 50bucks a week and then on the way home from the supermarket seeing KFC advertising like 2 whole chickens for 5 bucks

Yeah, it really sucks. I am going to have to get a second job, a part time job, unless things change really quickly, just so that I can eat enough food.

Drop the rum and just go to the college parties that charge you $5 a cup and drink there kegs..

at least that's what I plan to do when i go to college next year.

egg whites are not at all necessary... check this out... throw in a multivitamin too if ya can...

Breakfast:

1 cup Fiber One Cereal *no milk*
1 Optimum Nutrition 100% whey protein shake *mix with water*
Fish Oil or Flax supplement

Snack *2-3 hours after breakfast*
1-2 servings of some type of nut... I alternate between almonds and peanuts... not honey roasted... don't overdo the portioning

Lunch *about 2-3 hours after snack*
Tuna Sandwich, use low fat Mayo and less than one tablespoon... try and get the best bread you can, no white bread... try and get a lower carb, higher fiber, whole wheat will do
*Or two slices of wheat toast with Natural Peanut butter on them*

Afternoon Snack *about 2-3 hours after Lunch*
Low Carb Protein Bar

Dinner *not more than 3 hours after afternoon snack*
Grill up a low fat Beef or ground turkey patty... dip it in whatever you want, but only use one tablespoon of condiment... no buns... no bread...

After Dinner Snack *should be about 2 hours before bed*
Choices: Can of Tuna, 1-2 servings nuts, something around 300 calories with some protein in it and zero sugar

Drink as much water as you can fit into your schedule and try and get your regular exercise in... try and cut down the rum, but remember... if cutting down on the rum is hurting your fun with the ladies, just remember why you wanted the 6 pack abs in the first place :D

HolddaMayo -- Thanks a lot mate, thats a pretty good looking diet! Thats exactly what i was asking for. Anyone else have a suggestion like that? Every meal there (cept the beef/turkey) would take less than 5 minutes, easy to do etc...fits in a backpack. I mean, I am willing to admit that there is no way in hell I could stick to some of the diets out there (like body for life)

mostly just because good food may not be good for the body, but its great for the soul :) besides, I was exaggerating about the rum and the $10...

btw - should you change your eating habits if you generally exercise at ~6pm?

In addition to all of the other great advice:

1. Make one of your classes a gym class (maybe basketball) if you need to satisfy elective requirements.

2. Pack beef jerkey. Given your lifestyle, this seems like a great snack.

3. College students generally eat late meals that are often full of carbs (mac n' cheese / ramen / etc.). If you can just steer clear of this, you will be doing yourself a favor.

Take care,

As previously stated. Nice diet Holdamayo.:thumb:

Mmmm...coconut rum...

Too bad I gave up alcohol!!!!

I still have that Malibu flavored lipgloss somewhere tho :nanner:
