I need some help in regards to what i should eat for breakfast. I have been eating 2 egg whites and 2 whole eggs with wheat toast and some salsa. Lately i can not keep it down. It makes me sick to my stomach, and wont quit til its out. Im looking for my breakfast to have little to no sugar, be fairly low in carbs, and have a good amout of protein. Im also looking for it to be between 400-500 cals. I already have 3 shakes a day, and i wouldnt mind having a 4th, but i have heard you should try to get you protein from real food whenever possible. I also work out before breakfast, so it could be a breakfast/pwo shake. I know its asking a lot, but im hoping some one here could help. Thanks!:thumb:

i would have the shake before your workout and then a REAL food meal after.

plain eggs tend to make me sick too, however if i put them in a protein pancake i can gobble down 7 of them :)

recipe for protein pancakes:
-1/3-1/2 cups of dry oatmeal
-6 egg whites (carton kind cause the whole seperated eggs are too thick)
-1 whole egg

directions:
-pour egg whites and whole egg into a mixing bowl
-throw oats on top and whisk around bowl til mixed good
-let sit for aprox. 10min to let the oats absorb the eggs and soften up
-heat pan to med. and spray with pam
-cook egg mixture til brown on both sides

* i put peanut butter (for a fat source) and no sugar added jam or a cut up apple on the pancake and roll it up...its tasty :D

this breafast will give you your protein, carbs and fats and is low on the glycemic index (sugar)

Whole Eggs
Egg Whites
Ground sirloin
1 C. veggie of your choice.

Make a scramble and between the ground sirloin and veggies the egg taste is gone.

I don't know how much of each you need because I don't have your stats but I'm sure you can figure out the totals. ;)

MMMMM!!!!! Those pancakes sound good! I cont wait to try them tomorrow morning. Thanks! The idea of red mean in the morning also sounds good. Maybe i can start getting some variety in my breakfast. Im in the middle of a metabolism reset, so im overwelmed with all these calories i get to eat!!!

Looks good J'bo
but more and more research I have been digging up it is recommending a slow and fast acting protein about 1.5 - hours prior with a low glycemic carb ( pancakes be perfect here or even afterwards) or after you workout 25 grams whey protein isolate and oatmeal COOKED immediately after workout wait an hour and have next meal. Grinding up oats in a coffe grinder doesn't allow for full absorbability

I tried this earlier today and have one thing to say: :barf:

Yuck! Jbo if you think this is yummy I would HATE to see what you think is disgunsting. I admit I didn't have an jam or anything but you would have to put 3 cups of jam on to overpower the horrible taste. Maybe i'm just weird, did anyone else try this?

I have a bowl of cereal, a glass of orange juice and a protein shake for my breakfast

cheap, simple and effective :thumb:

that wont work because calmdwn said he was looking for something with little to no sugar. Cereal and milk is a lot of sugar and OJ is a shit ton of sugar!!!!:p :finger:

the cereal I have is high in fibre and sugar free

milk is milk, everyone needs milk, its important for strong bones and all that, you can't say milk is bad for you... 'got milk?' was for health issues not money

and orange juice is also good for you, its full of vitamins and the engery is needed first thing in the morning, plus the sugar is fructose - good sugar

well... thats my understanding of it, if that breakfast is good enough for mo' greene its good enough for me :)

No, OJ is crap because all the fiber is squeexed out of it. All that is left is the sugar.

"got milk" was all about making money. Lactose is sugar.

Why is fructose good sugar??

i heard fruit (fructose) was good for you?

ain't you meant to get like 5 portions of fruit a day or something?

c'mon man, you can't say orange juice is bad... if fresh orange juice is a bad drink what drinks are good for you?

if milk is bad how am I suppose to have cereal? how do i eat/cook my oats without milk?

i'm confused, i thought my breakfast was good :(

I don't drink juice because it lacks fiber.....Water is good.

Milk is not bad but it is not the best. Cook your oats with water.

Read the stickies and learn about sugar and fructose.

but having orange juice in the morning with a high fibre cereal can't be all that bad? better then most drinks i'm sure

yes i drink mostly water, infact apart from orange juice in the morning and a orange juice/water/sugar drink at the gym i only drink water

anyways thanks for the advice, i'll try cooking oats with water tomorrow morning

don't drink OJ at the gym.....you don't want to much fructose during or after your workout. It is not an optimal sugar source like dextrose.

what should i drink at the gym then?

I looked up a few 'homemade sports drink' pages and most of them included orange juice in them, thats why i use it (ATM i have 200ml of OJ, 600ml of water, 1/2 teasp. sugar)

you can sip a protein drink with some dextrose in it....or just drink water.....fructose, for the most part, repletes liver glycogen. You need to replete muscle glycogen.

i normally have a protein drink and a bananna pre and post workout (i also have maltoderxtrins in my pwos), is this okay?

is there any prob drinking what i'm drinking right now (with the OJ), or do you recommend I cut it out and just drink water during my workout?

I just drink water during my workouts...Also, the banana has fructose. maltodextrin is okay, add some dextrose in there also.

I defenitly would drop the OJ.

will do...

i can't seem to find any dextrose (i'm from the u.k. I've tried health shops but no luck)

dosen't the bananna have glucose in it as well, which is good for short term energy? (I eat quite a lot of banannas, esspecially when at work, gym or playin sports)

i'm cutting right now, should that effect my pre/post w.o. meals/shakes? or is the whey and maltodextrose still cool?

When I am cutting I don't spike insulin levels post workout. There are several threads that have been started last week on this very topic.

hmm yes i've noticed them, would whey + maltodextrins be okay on a cut or not? or do you just recommend whey?

I usually have whey and 1/2c of oatmeal. But that is because I don't spike insulin because when cutting I want to burn as much fat as possible and an insulin spike is not going to help me do that. If you want to spike insulin levels whey and dextrose with some maltodextrin will work or just whey and dextrose. I have not heard of anyone who uses just whey and maltodextrin, with out the dextrose so hopefully someone can chime in here and help you out if that is the path you want to take.

ive been considering a "during w/o" shake. you find good results from those pfunk?

I have not done it long enough to really give you a good answer to that. I have only tried it a couple of times. About half way through the workout I started sipping my shake. It seems like it can work and I know some people that swear by it. So try it and see.

whey doesn't get into your blood stream untill 60-75 minutes so why even bother moving blood from muscle to stomach. I just take BCAASand sip on them suring my workout and I'm fine !! Much better option if i do say so my self. Vedetta oes look good though but i'm not a big fan of sugar during workout or any process sugar at all in my body

So, basically how many minutes after you'r workout you need to have the whey and the carb source (oat) ?

Make an omelette and add hallow-pee-knows.

Is this the right spelling?

I Eat J'bo's recipe of protein pancakes AT LEAST 3 times a week-- I love them. But I do add sugarfree syrup (only 2tbsp) to them! :)
YUM!!!

Crazy Stacey. How much oatmeal and eggs do you use? When I did mine I didn't use any whole eggs, I used egg beaters and about 1/3 cup oatmeal and I couldn't finish it off because of sickness
