Herniated Disc

If anyone has chronic low back pain get it checked out, don't ignore it. If you have pain radiating down your leg get an MRI asap and see an orthopedic surgeon that specializes in the spine.

Like I said earlier, many people have buldging and even herniated discs and don't even know it, like in my case. It wasn't until it got really bad that I had it checked out, big mistake and lesson learned the hard way.

really? I have never heard that before. I am no cancer expert in anyway though. Is there any link you can provide us with more info?
P-Funk, below are some links for some types of cancers where back pain is a symptom. Each type of cancer has its own set of symptoms, so linking to one specific site is not possible. While most cases of back pain are certainly not related to cancer, it is something for everyone to think of if the pain does not go away in a reasonable amount of time. This is not meant to scare the hell out of anybody. Cancer for the age range of most of the people on this site is pretty uncommon. However, it does occur and chances increase as you age. Being aware that your body is giving you signals that something is wrong may be the difference in someone being a survivor or a statistic.

Pretty good, it seemed to really help. I am going back to my orthopedic surgeon next week to see if he thinks I should get a second one.

Good! Glad to hear it. It's nice to have some relief I'm sure.

re: herniated disc

Your mention of herniated disc caught my eye. I know it stinks! I recently found out that I have a cervical herniation c4-5, degeneration noted also. Quite commom to find. Most people are walking around with bad spine conditions and are not aware of it. I have elbow and ulnar nerve problems and I finally asked to have an mri done. Sure enough they found herniation. I am currently getting PT including traction. I want to see how therapy goes first before I have an ESI. You mentioned drx9000. I don't know anyone personally who has had that, but I am a nurse and speak to different doctors offices. I was told by one office that they had 85% success rate with the drx9000. I also was told that these herniated discs cansometimes resolve themselves with the right treatment done early on. Of course this all depends on what stage of herniation you are dealing with. Surgery/fusion is something I personally would avoid unless absolutely necessary. One of the websites I went on had some easy to understand info and pics(some are way too technical for me) www.coloradospineinstitute.com but I'm sure your docs have shown you quite a bit of literature already. Well, here's hoping that our herniations decompress themselves! Take care.

Rob sorry to hear bout your injury bro. good to see that you're not giving up training altogether, just re-thinking your approach. check this article out, i thought about your situation as i was reading it.

some of us younger guys should think more into the future but unfortunately we are too short sighted for that and keep pushing until one day our body's just give up on us. its a shame but i can't really live any other way.

I could defenitly "man up" for a Dr. Ken session. It would be brutal and probably end with us swearing at each other. But I would forge on.

Hey Prince Hows your back now? I have the same thing but not as severe L4/L5 herniation. Still hurts to stand up and quick moments. I was going through the same rehab with the decompression machine followed by electro stim and cold compress. My doc was the best. I used to be a gymnast for a few years as a kid. and about 2yrs ago I deadlifted with poor form due to being too hyper and jacked up on stim's. I already had some preexisting pain due to an already worn out disc. and for 15 yrs was living with back pain and thought it was going to be a fact of life.

I thought I was a goner. But the decompression machine is a god send. Now since my doc is no longer practicing here, she moved to Cali, I am w/o this machine. Gotta look for a good doc thats flexible with payments (no insurance)

Hope you've been able to get back in to lifting.

Until then, any ideas how i could take the pressure off or minimize the pain. I have some pain killers but I dont want to have to take them forever.

It's okay, I have to be careful, I don't have any pain but I know what I can and cannot do. My biggest issue is my limitations with working legs, I cannot squat and I even have to be careful with leg press movements. As long as I have my training belt on I seem to be fine. I am sure the disc is still bulging and always will be, I also expect that some day I will need surgery.

Herniated Disc Pain Relief and Treatments Guide.

Herniated discs are a major cause of disability in people under 45.
I am one of those people.
For the past 3 years I suffer L5S1 disc hernia, the most common type of hernia.
But each case is slightly different and that makes it very difficult to treat.
In my case I also have hyperlordosis, scoliosis and spina bifida.
I have been trying countless treatments and supposed cures. I was often left in disappointment but fortunately found some sources of relief.
I'm not a doctor, just a student with lots of experience with a mother which is a doctor.
At this time, despite my efforts, I have reached a point where I need surgery.
But if I have had the experience and the knowledge I have now I could have avoided this complicated situation for sure.
That's why I made a PDF with my experience and everything I?ve investigated and used to relieve my pain over the years.

I offer this guide for FREE to those who ask me by mail to this address.

Since my insurance does not cover this type of operation I'm asking for help through the IndieGoGo platform. Through a donation you can get the PDF, ?Herniated Disc Pain Relief and Treatments Guide?. Through this platform I will also answer any questions you may have about the subject.

If you share this link, make a donation or just give it a like on facebook or tweeter you?d be helping me greatly.
