Hi. im 16 and i play soccer for the school, i would say im overall pretty fit with a lil extra fat on chest and stomache from eating to much fast food lol, but im not fat =0.

i have just recently began lifting and am going to contiune for a long time, and just have a few questions.

First Off i have heard that traning every other day and doing full body workout is good.
But my Friends who are in FootBall say that its best to do everyday but different stuff, like doing Arms 1 day then Legs and so forth.

Dose Enyone know what one is better to do, or is their a different style.
also should i lose the lil extra weight before lifting, or is it good to have extra fat becuase it turns into mussel or something??

Leme know thx =0

Your young and your bf doesnt seem high so it is fine. Tell your friends they are crazy. A total body routine is great for strength. Dont let young kids persuade you one way or another, they more than likely dont have a clue other than what they read from a magazine. Either total body or an upper/lower routine would probably suit you best. Work with high reps to strengthen tendons and joints first. Reps in the 8-12 rep range.

your school doesnt have a work out program?

Most workout program from the schools I have seen have been total bullshit. We did however do bigger faster stronger whenever I was in high school which is good, but for a beginner to lay down and start pressing reps of 3 or 5 is ridiculous if you ask me.

GO with a good total body routine. Your friends are stupid.

Bigger Faster Stronger makes my head hurt because of the way it is applied by coaches.

we use the bigger faster stronger program at my school its cut down on players gettin hurt alot the last few years.

Well it really needs to be taught correctly. You throw a freshman into bigger faster stronger who has never touched a weight, now thats dumb at best!

my coachs make sure every one knows what they are doing first before the freshmen even get to add weight to the bars. that and most of the other older players that have been in the program for a few years and have a good idea of what they are doing keep an eye on the younger ones that are lifting

Does your coach have some sort of training with routines and weight training?

dont know never asked him i dont talk to him much i dont like him and he dont like me

Haha.....well every single coach that is around my area has a degree alright its in education or pe. They know very little about weight training and probably know about as much as new comers. But yet they throw a program out there and say do it and record your progress, MORONS!

max gains = max rest

"MUSCLE"
okok, fat doesnt convert to muscle, ever, under no circumstances.
and it depends on what your goal is, as to how your train.
First off, remember DIET IS 85% of what you want to achieve. secondly, if you are looking to put on lean mass, I would say one muscle group a day.
i.e.:
mon quads
tues bi/tri
wed chest
thurs shoulders
fri back
sat hamstrings

stay committed, stay dedicated and stay on track. talk to others that have your same goal and the ones who have gone before you.
Good luck!!

^^ max gains = max rest

yet you have a training program built around 6 straight days....RIIIIIGHT!! All your credibility just went out the window.

haha the coach thats in the weight room with us is the P.E. teacher but he also teaches the weight lifting classes. he might have some back ground in lifting im not sure though. sometimes a differnt coach goes in there with us he seems to know alot about lifting only time he shows up is in the summer and durring football season

Yeah our PE teacher taught the weight training class in high school to. He payed more attention to what was on the radio rather than the class. :D

mine makes sure that all of us are doing the lifts right. he likes to yell at me for not puttin more weight on for squat and bench though

P-Funk ... hugs kiddo, u just put the bigget smile on my face! i take it youve never competed? AND you dont do AAS?????? holla back, lol

I have competed twice. I hate bodybuilding so no longer do though.

I do not take AAS. Neither should a high school kid you stupid bitch. Go to the fucking flex magazine forum moron.

Thing is if a beginner starts with something like a bench press and hasnt developed proper tendon strength or joint function he may well fuck hiself over there. See what I am getting at?

i understand what your gettin at. and thats what i tell my coach when it comes to me benching i have two really bad shoulders both will try to pop out on me when i start to try and bench anythig over 225 had surgery on the right one just over a year ago and messed i up in football again and my left one is messed up from football a long time ago docs said only thing i can do for the left is wear a brace. two torn rotator cuffs

Simply put I would get away from benching if possible. I would do whats comfortable and thats it. He could definitly suck my nuts.

i benched 200 5 times on monday it felt pretty good i dont try to do more then that if possible. and my coach can suck your nuts i dont like him he should get the pads on one day and play WR so i can nail his ass commin across the middle

I know I never cared to much for any of my coaches either, but then again they knew nothing.

only coachs i like that i have had are my 8th and 9th grade coach then the head coach that i will have next year he is amazing when it comes to making plays up for what kinda players he has. the coach im talkin about though i kinda have to put up with him hes the CB and safteys coach and i play saftey

hey guys i think u went a lil off topic heh.
so like all my friends say u should do something like this that i listed on bottem, becuase if u do all at once then u wont take in enough protien to cover all the musels. leme know thx,
mon quads
tues bi/tri
wed chest
thurs shoulders
fri back
sat hamstrings

No again thats a horrible idea. You will see your best strength gains from either an upper lower routine or a total body routine. Thats crap you have there is more suited torwards a bodybuilder, who may or may not be using AAS.

Do a full body workout 2-3 times per week. This is coming from a personal trainer - most of the other people who have responded with full body or an upper/lower split are professionals in the industry or quite experienced.

Who are you going to listen to; us, or some high school kids?
