3 or 7 days rest? full body workout

Hey how is it goin? I have been reading your forums for a week now and find it the most valuable information about bodybuilding on the net. I have just signed up to a gym near me and recieved my training schedule. I did my first workout today it was quite intense. The instructor told me to have a weeks rest before I do it again. I think that a week is to much and my muscles will be able to fully heal within 3 days since I am using supplements and eating well. I did a full body workout...

Do you think I should wait a week? I beleive that I should go back in 3-4 days and do it again... By then my muscles would have full healed.

Please reply I need all the help I can get.

Thanx guys and girls

P.s - I am 15 yrs old and quite fit from other sports

If it is the 'First' Workout you've had, and it was intense...You are going to be very sore..just wait a day or two and you will feel it..if you feel fine, and don't feel any pain throughout your muscles...then go back in 3 days...and complain that it wasn't intense enough.

Often times the full extent of your muscle soreness will not be felt for 48 hours... I would definitely wait until you feel little to no soreness in your muscles before going back. If you do go back before that time, do cardio maybe only...or very very light weights which often willl alleviate any soreness you may still have. Waiting a week won't kill ya either...

Well it's been 24 hours now and hte only place I am feelin the burn is in my pecs and a lil bit in the triceps... I haven't recieved any other pains or soreness at all...

I think I will go back in 2 days time and do another one... I am very fit from other sports so therefore perhaps my body is healing faster...

Also - with bench presses should I be doin a weight that I can do 3 sets of 12 reps with not to much trouble or should i put more weight so im pushing 10 every set? and then on the last set I do 2 extra reps?

The instructor in the gym wants me to go once a week for the first few weeks to let my body get used to the strain or something along the lines. I think I should go every 3 days... What do u think?

Thanx

Perhaps you should listen to your instructor? He may be gradually accomodating you to the stresses of working out, or something along those lines. Ask him his reasoning next time. If he has solid reasoning as to why he wanted you to wait a week, then he won't be offended.

He said that it will take that long for my muscles to heal... I want to seperate my workouts instead of doin a full body workout as it takes an hour or so and my last lifts will not be as effective because my muscles will be sorer from the previous exercises.

Also what would be a good 3 day split?

Thanx alot

Pfft. I doubt it will take a week for your muscles to heal. If you like full body routines, but are worried about the muscles at the end suffering as a result of fatigue, then switch the order. Do the routine 3 days per week, but start with legs one day, push muscles one day, and pull muscles another day, or something like that.

Nah it was like the first workout thing... It wasn't to well done and he suggested full body workouts... What is better? Having a 3-4 day split or doin full body workouts?

Please post a 3 or 4 day split

Thanx

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
What groups of muscles should I train together?
How often should I train them?
Should I put my weight up so I am pushing 10 reps per set?
Does it work to tense your muscles when working out (inbetween reps)?

Please answer these questions

Thanking you

good friend of mine stepped in years ago and set me straight...got me doing a 5 day split and it was the catalyst i needed. Its not perfect but its a solid start, my routine has evolved far from this but its the best beginning in my opinion.

Shoulder circles and rotator work to warm up every day.

Day 1: Chest/forearms

Day 2: Bi's/Tri's

Day 3: Shoulders/calves

Day 4: Back/abs

Day 5: Legs

Off

Off

Good split above.. although I always leave arms at the last day of the week because I do not want to weaken another bodyparts lifts because my arms are still fatigued.

Thanx heaps ASSPUNCTURE a mate of mine has a similar split. Should I do enough weight so i can just complete 10 reps per set for 3 sets? Should I tense at the peak of exercises for example barbel curls?

Thanx

Bud, there is a wealth of information in this community. Everyone has an opinion. Listen to them, because once you have read all you have to read about training, and all the opinions from all the members here, you will be able to formulate your own.

Having said that, go to the stickies on the top of the page and go to the journal section of this community. There you will see all the training routines and sessions used by many a member of this community. That will give you a better gauge what you should do.

There are a lot of tools in this community that will help you out....
My view is, take a moment to read "Power/Rep Range/Shock basics", which is a sticky on the training forum. I used this last year as a beginner and it worked wonders for me.....

Good luck

Gah chrish! where did you find that girl you have in your sig? She is so hot! where?

If you are paying this guy, he better get you on at very least a 3 day split and start smashing your legs
Why? Can't a PT prescribe a full body workout?

Indeed. Full body workouts are great. I think they are well matched to beginners as well, because they quickly raise your level of conditioning. As well, the higher frequency of repeated motor skills for each exercise is a good thing to help you get the movements down pat.

this isnt even a question, FB's are for people severly overweight or people who actually want to cannabilize their muscle

he said "P.s - I am 15 yrs old and quite fit from other sports"

so we want to encourage solid fundamentals now while putting on some actual muscles

in my opinion of course

we have to end apartheid for one. And slow down the nuclear arms race, stop terrorism and world hunger. But we can't ignore our social needs. either We have to stop people from abusing the welfare system. We have to provide food and shelter for the homeless and oppose racial discrimination and promote civil rights while also promoting equal rights for women but change the abortion laws to protect the right to life yet still somehow maintain women's freedom of choice. We also have to control the influx of illegal immigrants. We have to encourage a return to traditional moral values and curb graphic sex and violence on TV, in movies, in pop music, everywhere. Most importantly we have to promote general social concern and less materialism in young people.
