Hiit?

High Intensity Interval Training.

Its generally applied to sprint training, but it involves any activity that staggers periods of high-effort work with periods of low-effort work.

For example, someone doing sprints would sprint at their fastest speed till exhaustion (for most people, 15-20 seconds), then jog or walk for 30-45 seconds. This is repeated for a specific time interval.

It can be applied to any activity that requires cardiovascular exertion, like jumping rope, rowing, cycling, etc.

My favorite lately has been to use the clean & jerk or power snatch for sets of 5 with short rest periods.

so basically its do something like snatches as u mentioned as hard as u can, then taking a short break?

or sprinting 20 yds and jogin 50 then sprintin again 20 and so on?

Do you think variation every 5 minutes is as effective? Like sprint for 3 mins, jog slowly for 2, and at every repeat, increase the speed? I do this sometimes and call it a form of HIIT.. should I be?

The problem with that is that noone can possibly sprint at their fastest speed for more than 30 seconds, if that.

HIIT is effective for fast loss; however, fat loss occurs from a caloric deficit, and strength training w/o cardio works very well when a caloric deficit is implemented.

so if im tryin to cut weight HIIT would be good for me?!?! i dont see how this is good for fat loss? i would think it more for endurance... which every could allways use a little more

Is this your answer to my question?

I just think that if I comfortably jog at 5.0 mph and start running at 6.0 mph, after 20 minutes, I will be at 8.0 mph or so. 8.5 is a full total insane sprint for me, but I never reach that point. 8.0 is torture already for me, but 2 minutes is a long sprint.

Does this make more sense?
