How come after a hour of cardio, it causes diminishing returns and overtraining?

I agree. You can't just start banging down calories or your body will start storing to much fat. Trail, you are doing a ifne job, just keep at it. Premor, of course you can eat more food than him and be hungry, you have more muscle than he does.....your body craves those extra calories. I am 197lbs and eat over 4000cals a day and still hungry as hell, our metabloic rates are completly different.

Uh....take it slow, man, weight train four times a week, clean up your diet, do moderate cardio up to three times a week, and you'll be dropping fat slowly and steadily without overtraining and losing any lean muscle that you have underneath the fat. Diet is key. Just look at your diet and clean it up instead of worrying about killing yourself with the cardio. Overtraining is the worst, seriously.

Yes, I agree, take it slow but honestly in this case I don't think moderate cardio is enough. I think he is fine with what he is doing so far. He is severly deconditioned and needs to get a good base, increase his hearts ability to do work (VO2max), get some muscle endurance and begin being more active.


Trail, I agreee with prince. If you are bored go for a nice walk outside. Don't over so what you are already doing, everything will come with time. You can't expect to go from one extreme to the other so quickly. Also, ponyboy's suggestion of finding a hobby or something that interests you to occupy your tiome may not be a bad idea. Hang in there buddy:thumb:
 
My hobby = Online games and Movies on cable both require sitting down and doing nothing... haha

Think I will go sit in the jacuzi(sp?) and sauna today... cleanse the fat away.. ahhhhhh
 
Well, here is what I think. Do as much cardio as you want, do it 10 hours a day, just make sure you compensate for all the extra work by eating more. Your body will not catabolize muscle if it gets what it needs from your bodyfat and food. You are best served to pick a caloric deficit that is low to start off with s that your thyroid does not shut down. Doing this would raise your metabolism and increase your cardiovascular conditioning so that you can do better stuff later on.
