OK, I did a search and only found comments about the anti-oxidents, etc, so I'll ask in a new thread.

I am drinking Green Tea, again.

But what is the best or proper way to brew it.

Ounces of water per tea bag?

Temperature for the tea bag?

How long do I keep the tea bag in the water?

Thanks in advance.

And, what are "tannans?"

first up, you're an arsehole :paddle:

however, the Capt will share his secrets . .

. . if you're buying teabags then you're dealing with shit tea, buy loose leaf

. . ensure you have a pot . .clay pot is preferable.

. . place a bunch of fresh mint in the pot, fill to 3/4

. .put 2 teaspoons of quality loose leaf green tea into a glass

. . fill with off-the-boil water (rain water, or artisian water is best)

. . inhale vapours, then let stand for 30 secs

. . tip out the tea-water, add the remaining leaves to pot

. . stand for 60 sec then pour

. . you can keep drinking until the the tea becomes bitter

. . this is an actual tea ceremony, best shared . . each blend will be unique in flavour . .

Now rep me bitches :coffee:

Ah, The Captain knows the Captain's Tea.....or is quick to do a web search. Tea Ceremony? Is the Captain light on his Sea Legs?:homo: :D

Stolen from Wiki land....

"Tannins are astringent, bitter plant polyphenols that either bind and precipitate or shrink proteins and various other organic compounds including amino acids and alkaloids. The astringency from the tannins is what causes the dry and puckery feeling in the mouth following the consumption of unripened fruit or red wine.[1] Likewise, the destruction or modification of tannins with time plays an important role in the ripening of fruit and the aging of wine." Since I was once upon a time a professional woodworker (oh, the comments thatmight follow) I usuallt think of tannins in relation to wood......e.g., when oak is exposed to direct moisture, it will turn black..due to the reaction of the tannins within.

As far as tea is concerned.....One bag of tea, 8oz. good water...heat until it is between 165 and 170 degrees, never boil green tea or it will become bitter....steep until desired strength is achieved, and drink up.

You're welcome, Anti-American bastard man.

:hehe:

Thanks for the follow-ups RichAround, and DaMayor,

Here is a dilemma,

I live in Vietnam and cannot find the Green Tea leaves.

I'll have to use tea bags - I assume they are better than no Green Tea at all.

Correct?

You've got to be kidding . . . there are Green Tea leaves in Vietnam . . they just don't trust Roundeye's smelling of cheese :coffee:

No no... you guys have it all wrong. Now, pay attention to the proper way to brew green tea.
First, take a small amount and remove any foreign objects such as stems or seeds. Then take an EZ Wider and make a fold about 1 inch from the bottom. Spread green tea evenly a gently roll into a cylindrical form. Continue to roll until you reach the adhesive strip, moisten lightly and compete the roll.
Now, simply light one end and :joint:

Thanks folks, and thanks again to the 'Cap.

I'll look for those Green Teal leave in the veggie Markets.:thumb:

Muscle Gelz Transdermals

Question about Tea bags (not leaves) of Green Tea.

Can I get some, or sufficient anti-oxidents by using Tea Bags?

And, how many tea bags, just one? Or, do I need to use more than one.

(I know leaves are healthier.)

Hello,

There are two main methods to prepare Green Tea. The easy method, or the Traditional Japanese ceremony method. The latter is a bit beyond this article, but more information will soon be available on my website. Growing your own Green Tea plants
Green Tea plants seem to have originated in China. There is evidence that suggests that Green Tea has been used for more than 5000 years. From China, Green Tea spread around those eastern regions namely Japan, Taiwan, India and even up to Russia.

here are a few factors that you need to keep in mind when you want to brew your green tea.
  • The Quality of Water
  • The quality of Green Tea
  • Water temperature
  • And the time needed to steep
Thanks.

isnt 'green tea' unfermented 'black tea'?

[*]And the time needed to steep[/LIST] Thanks.

Thanks, rukika.

"Steeping" is how long the Green Tea Leave or bag is soaking in the hot water correct?

What is the best amount of time?

Thanks.
