HOW FASTING IS ANTI AGING

We now know that fasting releases high levels of HGH in any person practicing the dietary ritual. Fasting releases ketones, which delays aging during the fasting period. Researchers say we can stop age-related illnesses and diseases in the human body. Cancer, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer’s could theoretically be a thing of the past if more people fasted.

A study on mice found that wrinkles and hair loss could be reversed. The scientists created a genetic mutation to cause a mitochondria deficiency and found that the mice exhibited aging characteristics in four to eight weeks. Once they turned off the genetic mutation, the signs of aging were reversed.

When we fast, we turbocharge our metabolisms, providing our bodies a better opportunity to break down nutrients and burn calories. Another essential factor for anti-aging is that fasting slows the breakdown of DNA. This is key as DNA is reduced when we age. When we fast, it works in reverse: DNA repair is accelerated and degradation slows down, thus slowing down the aging process.

Fasting also creates antioxidants that help keep free radicals in check as they attack cells in the body. During fasting, cells use lower levels of blood sugar (glucose), which prompts the body to use fatty acids as an energy source. When this happens, the body is constrained to use less accessible energy sources. In the long run, this helps reduce the production of free radicals as unhealthy mitochondria are replaced with healthy mitochondria.

Recent research has also found that a reduction of chronic inflammation is another benefit of intermittent fasting, which can reduce health problems such as cancer, inflammatory bowel diseases, diabetes and heart disease. The research showed the intermittent fasting reduced monocyte metabolic and inflammatory activity and drastically reduced the number of circulating monocytes. Monocytes are highly inflammatory immune cells that can cause serious tissue damage.

As we can clearly see here, with all the beneficial effects of intermittent fasting on health and metabolism, it could help you live longer and enjoy an improved, healthier quality of life.
