Once again, someone that is not Native American needs to be very be careful to not advertise that they posses an Eagle feather.
An Eagle feather is a sacred object, not something to be put above the mantel as a display and bragged to friends about.
Regardless if it was gifted or not.
In addition to the feds to some in the Indian community it may cause an issue if a non native is using an Eagle feather as a display object to be shown off to friends.

I did they specifically told me that it would be disrespectful to hide it in a draw or closet...They specifically told me to display it so anyone could see it when entering my cabin...I respected their wishes and it is in a big frame with some other smaller beedwork gifts hanging on my living room wall.
