How many meals a day is adequate?

Meal number isn't a big deal.

Just get your calories and macro's in and you'll be fine.

i agree with TSB, it won't make a difference whether you eat 5 or 7 times, if the calories and nutrients remain the same. of course, 1 or 7 times would make a difference, since the body can only use so much right away. if you ate 1 huge meal per day, much of the carbs and fat will end up as bodyfat (the metabolism will slow down) and also protein would be turned to bodyfat, since only so much could be used right away, and thus wouldn't be available for muscle recovery and growth.

I read an article once by Lee Labrada where he talked about how he had always eaten 5 meals per day. Then one year he decided to up it to 6 meals. He claimed that year he made a ten pound weight gain and had not changed anything else in his diet or training.
It was a credible article since Lee obviously was not one of the "heavier" drugged up bodybuilders. (IMO) I doubt if he ever even used GH.

did he eat an additional meal, meaning additional calories? or did he devide his present calories into 6 instead of the previous 5? if he added food, of course he would gain weight

The end result is the same...

Lee is on drugs.

Eating your calories in 6 meals VS 5 makes no difference when it's all said and done.

I've eaten 10 meals per day, and I've eaten 4....no difference.

TSB, you crack me up!

I know Lee was on drugs. But you have to admit in comparison to the junkies today, Lee was almost natural!

If I remember correctly (this was a couple of years ago), he did not increase calories, just added a additional meal and spread the calories out.

Are you talking about spreading your calories out across multiple meals, or are you adding additional calories?

Of course Lee says that.

Lee sells MRP's.

You eating more meals = you buying more of his MRP's.

I suggest you stop getting information and recommenedations from supplements sites (I remember you doing it before, too).

Need to put in my 2 cents here.In my experience eating more frequently will give you better results in the long run.Do not go more than 3 hours without getting a "meal" in,altough I find every 2 hours works best.I personally get 8 feedings in per day.I used to do 6,but after switching to 8 I have made significant progress. The most important meals and those in which should provide the most calories from protein and carbs are meal #1 and your post workout meal.Your body is most ready to uptake nutrients at these times. The best way to find out is to try it yourself...I doubt you'll be dissapointed.

I read an article in one of the health mags where they had people eat 17 times a day. They found the same thing that everyone here is agreeing on: get the Cals and Micros in as even a way a possible and you will be fine. Do what works for you and your schedule

*** I actually have gone from 5 large meals to 8-9 smaller meals every 2 hours and I have found so far to be alot more effective in terms of fat loss and overall well being.

Yeah, how dare you.

What do you meant you "got better results in fat loss and better well being"? What were your results in terms of fat loss with less meals VS more. How do you measure "well being"? Just how you feel? Well, that would be due to a million different things, as I recall you started taking an ECA at the same time as increasing meal frequency and when I'm on ECA I feel pretty ace too.
