Should I limit how much Splenda that I eat? I like to sweeten my oatmeal, cottage cheese and sometimes my fruit. Is it bad to use it so frequently?

How much are you talking about here?

I wouldn't go above 5-6 packets a day. Mainly for health reason and the fact that too much can make you crave sugar.

Isn't this relative to his/her weight, height etc?? I can't imagine it being an all size fits all?? Its kinda like telling everyone to limit their protein intake to under 200g/day without knowing their stats?

I Don't like to use splenda. Because once i get a taste of sweet I want more.
Splenda also makes me bloat!!
I only have one packet a day and it is usually on my oatmeal
I keep in mind that it is a chemical...too much of any chemical is trouble...and telling myself it was made in a lab helps me not to over due it.

So's processed white table sugar that people use to sweeten their coffee, find in their soft drinks and use in their baking goods (since it goes through a bleaching process to get that nice white look....yet everyone thinks white sugar is natural for some strange reason ) ;)

Well, good thing i dont consume alot of it then...eh?

I used to use the stuff all of the time when I was trying to ween myself off of sugar. It really helped. Now, I have a box of splenda packets I've had for a couple of months, at least, and have used about three. I do have diet coke with splenda, and I put syrup in my oats once a day that has spenda in it. I prefer the taste of peanut butter in my oats, but I cut out some of the peanut butter. I may get some stevia and put that in my oats instead. I believe that's a better way to go.

BAH i hate stevia

No one can really say. They don't believe it crosses the blood-brain barrier and it doesn't hang around in your tissues for very long but since no one can say for sure on its safety, it's best to use as little as you can get away with. I'll take splenda over aspartame and stevia over splenda.

I've never had it, so I wouldn't know. I might hate it too, but I think I will try it before I make a decision.

I put a half a scoop of ON chocolate whey in my oats to "sweeten" them up.

You might be using too much....stevia's one of those things that has a fine line....use to much and everything turns as bitter as all get out. Use too little and it's like its not even there.

Just something about stevia rubs me the wrong way. It's TOO sweet

Health and safety is my concern. It took SEVERAL years to find out that sweetnlow and aspartame caused negative side effects. Splenda is too new. Personally I think xylitol and stevia are your best options.

Na, not at all. Health wise have as much as you like, just be careful because anything sweet (splenda, stevia) can stimulate cravings.

From Oct 05 to Aug 06, I was using Splenda on my oatmeal every morning. I didn't think I was using very much, but after 10 months I started having serious stomach problems. I was having the same symtoms as an ulser. I went on Zantac for 3 months (stopped eating oatmeal) and got better. In December I went back to my diet and started having problems again. Jan 1st was the day I realized what was causing the problems and dropped Splenda from my diet. The symtoms slowly disappeared after 3 weeks and I've been fine ever since.
Be careful with that stuff, just a heads up.

Interesting!! I'm going to give Xylitol a try and see if I like that better than Stevia! I
