How much water?

I have been doing the Body-for-Life program of nutrition followed by weight training 3 days a week, and cardio about 5 days a week. I am trying to lose weight first, then I will start to worry about adding mass. My question is, how much water should I be drinking. I try for about 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day, but I heard from a guy around work that it is too much water. Any input on how much is too much.
 
That is definitely not too much water. I drink about 3 gallons a day myself. For me, it's because I sweat a lot. During one 30-min cardio session I probably lose at least 1/2 gallon of fluid. Plus I sweat a lot while lifting. It's very hard to drink TOO much water, but easy not to get enough.
