How to best use my 3 days a week? Cardio machines?

I pay a very low monthly fee to use my local gym, but because the fee is so low I can only go 3 days a week, it's all I can afford at the moment. I'm curious on how some of you would handle this 3 day a week thing, like what muscle groups when etc. And in case it matters, its not any 3 days, it's tuesday, thursday, saturday.

My second question is are cardio machines like treadmills, stairmasters, crossramps, etc, as good or better than real running/jogging/walking? Because I have done both and it is definetly a very different feeling between them. Does it matter how I do my cardio as long as it's the same intensity and time length?

Bally's huh?

Can you do a split?
What are your goals?
Age?Weight?Height?Sex?

You can get a lot done in 3days. Depends on your goals.
Give up the stats , so I can give up the advice.

I'm 5'8, about 145 lbs. My goal is to bulk up, I have been working on my diet to coincide with this. Can I do a split? What's that? Sorry =(.

It depends on your level, if it were me I would simply hit legs one day, day two chest, shoulders and biceps, and back, traps, and triceps the third day.

but if you're a beginner, I would not recommend that type of split.

I'm not a total beginner. I've been working out for about a year on and off, and 6 months straight now, I just felt like I needed more direction in how I was doing things.

Well, I started doing

Tues - Back/chest
Thurs - abs/legs
Sat- Tri's/Bi's/shoulders

Today is wednesday. My chest and back are sore as hell. Great feeling. Anyone see anything wrong with this?

A question for ya bro, if your goal is to bulk then why are you so concerned with doing so much cardio. It isn't necessary really if you want to bulk up, just go with a healthy but full diet plan and worry about eating alot and training hard with weights. If you want to bulk then it is time to stop worrying about seeing the abs, believe me. Your split isn't bad, but I personally have never been a believer in doing two major body parts in the same wporkout like you have Back and Chest together. I feel like they are both such big muscle groups that they both deserve one whole training session each, after all, which ever BP you train first, the last one you tend not to approach with the same level of intensity, you know what I am saying. I like training the chest and tris together and back and bis together b/c each is included supplementally with the other. The Bis are included big time in rowing movements for the back, and the tris are involved quite a bit in most pressing movements, which is the major compound movement for the chest, ya feel what I am saying. The cardio isn't vital to bulking, it is just a way of making up for a cheating diet, Just my 2 cents. Good luck man
