It is not about an incompetence of not getting the things I want, it is more about not wanting to pursue things that I dont really care but people keep thinking that I should care about them.

People should be more cool, relaxed.

It's not about incompetence, it's about not even trying.

You need to understand a couple of basic ideas about yourself and others: no one can make you feel anything. Nothing. And every healthy person cares about others and cares (sometime too much) about what others think of them. Humans are social animals and a healthy human is social.

Having said all that, if most of your friends keep tying to seriously discuss movie stars, sports, and fashion like it's life or death...it's time to get new friends.

Well you are right. At least not everyone I know is like that. It bothers me because somehow they have so much fun with those things.

I can't stand that vapid shit.

I refuse to have friends that make these things the central point (or near enough) of their lives. That's not to say that people that like these things are always vapid, but if they can't talk about something a bit more intellectual, then it's "goodbye!"
