I have always loved the eclipse. i just happen to live in an area of the country were all wheel drive and 4 doors make much more sense for my chosen activities and life style.

I owned a Mitsubishi Eclipse lowrider in SLC. Those crappy roads beat the shit out of my car.

it pisses me off how they are always working on the roads out here, but they never seem to get better.

the evo is the turbo charged all wheel drive version of the lancer. kind of like how the wrx sti is the turbo charged subaru impreza

Sry I meant the the Lancer Evolution. Is it the same thing as that? Tubo'ed, AWD, suspension, sweet interior...

agreed. im naturally distrustful of these guys. last time I bought a car they tried to switch my interest rates on me. when i caught it he said "its only $20 more a month". When I told him to pay it he choked on his coffee. bastard

I'm waiting until I have enough money to pay for it in cash. Or put it on the HELOC.

A buddy of mine drives an Evo X, I drive a Sti. Both cars are awesome.
Nice car, congrats! I love the new Evo X. :thumb:

is your STI new? have you and your friend found the reports to be generally true? such as, the STI is faster in a strait line, but the EVO is better in cornering?

I'd imagine it to be the other way around. Subaru's have bad ass AWD and suspension. I could be wrong though. Just check out their stats. I'm to lazy to search it.

both are all wheel drive. I have searched the stats, and test driven both cars. I was just curious, if it all mapped to extended real world use

I have a friend who drives an older open class built Galant.
He built the entire car himself down to every riviet, bolt, and detail.
Races it a few times a year...

He prefers the EVO over STI..
Although he has built two STIs and owned one as well..
(and a porsche, and a VW, and an Eagle Talon I think) :hmmm:

i wish i had a list that long. minus the talon.

im picking it up on friday now:daydream:

i love all the evo models but if i had to get one i would get the 8 instead of the 10 love that design its great

what about the 8 did you like so much?

tomorrow i get to pick it up.

Being that my 07 STI is stage 2, I'm faster than him. I'm not sure about cornering though. Again, mine is probably a little better because of aftermarket suspension.
As far as 08 STI stock to 08 EVO stock, not sure either.
As far as looks go, I do like the 08 EVO over the 08 STI.

I think the STI has the edge 0-60 and on cornering, but the Evo wins in the other areas, and has some pretty damn clever technology keeping it in check.

evo actually wins on cornering. sti gets better marks in a strait line.

THe bottom line: If you own either of those cars you are one lucky bastard.

Enjoy biochem, enjoy. Although I think service intervals are ludicrously low.

:(

It's something like 4000 miles. Still, the price to pay for having an awesome car.

yea, ive already taken this into the budget. it was a tough one to swallow.

Most of the time, all they do is a brief check and an oil change. If your car was a bit older, you could do it yourself for a fraction of the cost. But, cos its new best get the book stamped.

so I am finally the proud owner of a mitsubishe evolution x. After only 5 hours at the dealership, leaving once, and returning to get in a yelling match on the showroom floor. I know it is a weird story and many people said i should have left without purchasing. more details and pictures to come.

P.S. Mino as in most cases you were correct. reading the fine print is O so important. Glad I remembered your advice:thumb:

Cool, can't wait to hear and see more.

All right guys here goes. I finally have a few minutes. I have been attempting to purchase this or an STI for about 2 and a half months now. I went to multiple dealerships (2 STI and 3 mitsubishi) here in Utah and then in WA as well.(WA is where I am originally from) of those 5 dealerships none spoke to me when I walked on to the lot. I would walk around look at the cars in the show room and nobody would approach me. (bastards) so I started the online process where they would call me and set up an appointment. of the 5 dealers who brought me in only 1 of each would let me actually drive the damn car. with those dealerships i made offers on both the STI and the EVO. neither company would really deal with me. (stayed at MSRP for each.) One mitsubishi dealer quoted me 4,000 higher than MSRP for a base GSR model.he said this was market markup. I told him to STFU. (not my proudest moment)

So online I see a dealership (South Coast Mitsubishi) in CA offering the car for a few grand below MSRP. I give them a call and work out a deal. I get an acceptable interest rate, they offer me a good deal for my car as a trade in and I tell them I will come in on saturday to pick it up. At this point I'm thinking that when I show up I will be there about a half hour to sign papers and leave happy as hell with my new car. (what an ignorant fool I was)

So when I show up, we take my car out for a quick spin and everything is in order. We start to do the paperwork and they guy does an about face and offers me a little over half of what we discussed on the phone. I'm dumbfounded. The salseman sits across from me and tells me that I need to help him out. WTF??? I need to help him out??? I tell him that is not what was discussed and I can only drive one car home. The entire time he has been treating me as if he can do what he wants because I drove all this way. He also mentions that it should be easier for me to accept a low offer for my car because I am getting his car for such a great deal. After 2 hours he tells me he can't move on the price he offered me (the lower price) and that I should take my car down the road to see if another place will purchase it. (I'm thinking he wants me to leave his dealership with my trade in?? he must think he owns me) So I leave and take my car to another place to see if I can sell it. I also call up the STI dealership to see what they can do for me.

After waiting another hour at this other place to see what I could sell my car for I get bored and go back to the mitsubishi dealership to get my money back and go to the STI dealership. When I walk into the EVO dealership the salesman greats me with a smug look and says "whats the deal?"

I reply that I need my money back because I will be purchasing a STI. at this point I think he peed his pants. he asks what kind of deal Im getting and i tell him how much I will recieve for my trade in (the amount he told me was impossible to get, which is the same we have agreed to over the phone). he asks if he can get me that deal would I stick with the EVO. I said he has 30 sec. he leaves and returns with his manager who ups the offer, but does not meet the previously agreed upon price. when I again ask for my money back and tell him that I am unsatisfied with my experience here, he begins to raise his voice and tell me about others who have had a good experience.(like that should matter to me) This is all happening on the show room floor. not in an office. I again ask for my money back and let him know that I will be posting this experience on the car forums. At this point with voices still raised, he again raises his offer for my car to just under the agreed upon price and then offers to more than make up the difference with free performance parts from the shop. (I ended up getting an Ipod cable, wheel locks, a drop in high flow air filter, and some other stuff.) This is finally when the deal was reached.

When I went into the finance guy the price of the car trade in value had to be adjusted to the new agreed upon price (up from the previous low offer) but otherwise went smoothly after that. In conclusion I got the car I wanted at an acceptable price and am now extremely happy with the car. But getting there was asinine. I would not recommend dealing with this dealership from a distance.

sorry about the long post guys, but I really needed to get this down. A friend of mine who went with me thought I was going to hit the guy at one point. I was really pissed off.

I hate salesman. I can't believe nobody approached you while you were browsing through the lot. In the Northeast here you get attacked by the sales people. I'm glad to hear you got what you wanted. Next step is paying it off. Good luck. Post pics please.

pics are coming. I drove it to utah from cali so it has a bit of road dust on it. Im going to give it a nice wash inside and out this weekend so the pics look the part. yea, sales people suck at car dealerships. one of the biggest failures of capitolism is a car salesman.
