I have had soreness in my lower abdominal for quite a few months now. The soreness is off and on. Some times I barely feel any, sometimes I feel it a lot. I did heavy lifting at work for several years. The doctors I've seen say I have no signs of a hernia and a very experienced surgeon has said the same. I got a cat scan done and it said no evidence of hernia either.
However, the surgeon did say what I have is a weak inguinal ring from all the heavy lifting I had done. He said he could give me surgery but its no guarantee the soreness would completely go away. I can always seek surgery later on but he did say I should go back to working out and doing sit ups. I haven't worked out since before I really felt soreness months ago (Last Oct). He said I might be able to strengthen my abdominal walls and the area around the soreness so that things may get better. I also have some inflammation in the lower left part of my abdomen. He said that was probably from being sore. You can't really notice it when I'm not active but after a days work and I've been moving around a lot you can see some inflammation. It doesn't hurt or anything, just small rise.
I know I have a greater chance of getting a hernia because my ring is weak so I wanted to seek help here in what exercises I could do to make me stronger in that area.
