i just started working out this past week. i did the 7 recommended workouts on iron man forums, from the arnold press to squats and deadlifts, so on and so forth.

i don't remember anything hurting or popping when i was working out, but the next day my left arm is incredibly sore around the inner elbow and slightly above it. i am assume from chin-ups. basically i have to hold my arm like it is in a sling and it still hurts, specifically right above the elbow. if i extend it all the way 180 degrees, it starts hurting even more about halfway, like a hell of a lot. if i press around, there is tenderness at the inner elbow that goes up and curves back around to just by the bottom of my tricep. is that a tendon? it definitely is a strand of muscle or tendon or something.

i started reading about bicep tendon tear and needing surgery and i freaked out. at the elbow is a little swollen i think but there is no bruising or abnormal looking swelling at the top of my shoulder or redness, so that doesn't sound like a bicep tendon tear but i just don't know what else it could be. has anyone ever had this before or does it sound like i need to go to a doctor and get an MRI? i did this on wednesday and the pain was bad yesterday but worse today. thank you.

ps--if the pain in my elbow were a 10/10, every other muscle i worked out would be an easy 6/10, so i am sure part of the pain is hopefully due from just being sore and working out.

Probably a pulled muscle or strained tendon from jumping into working out hard instead of easing your way in.

i figured as much, just trying to see if anyone has heard of this type of injury before so i can rule serious injury and surgery out of my brain...

Bro I would keep an eye on it I actuly blew my nerve out of the conduit and needed an ulner nerve relocation. Take it easy bro rest ice elevation when your not using it and I would avoid lifting for at least a week. I know it sucks but trust me a nerve relocation is way worse. I hope it is nothing keep us posted.

Ya i had similar symptoms it hurt like a bitch to when i put my elbow down say like laying on the floor etc....Do you have any nimbness or tingling? in your fingers when you did it

The pain you describe is right up there with what I had

Try an ice pack on it. Also some sort of non-prescription pain reliever.
