Im new to the cutting scene of bodybuilding, since until lately i was only really concerned with my strength. I was planning on cutting over spring break, but somehow i accidently decided to sit around and snack a bit more then usual with my friends (aside from lifting ofcoarse)

ive been seriously cutting for 2 days now, my gf is too. Im eating 1,750 calories a day, its hard because im a bit low on energy so im taking ripped fuel. My lifting sessions or short and intence, goin M/W/F. I do HIT cardio in the mornings on an empty stomach on lifting days, and i lightly jog with my gf on non-lifting days. i plan to drop calories by 100 every other week.

am i doing this right? should i start seeing loss in bf in the next 5-8 days?

We need a little more information - like age, height, weight, BF%... As well as what type of food you are eating... etc etc...

16 years old, 6' 3'', mid twenties in BF, 230 lbs, food is 1750 of low fat high protein moderate carbohydrate foods. fruit, protein shakes, and chicken mainly sums it up.

I think your food intake is too low... Especially being 16 yrs old.

230 and, say 25% means you have 170 pounds of lean body mass - and you are cutting it mighty fine by only eating 1750 cals!

I would bump that up to at least 2200-2300 cals... And you might be better off starting with 2500 cals and working down from there. If you start too low you will have no where to go later when you stall.

In terms of your foods - I would aim for:
~220 to 250g protein
~50 to 70g fats
And something around 220g - 250g carbs as well.

Start with that. Then, as the weeks go on and your progress stalls, then slowly cut cals (carbs usually) so you continue to get results.

Foods - just stick to a healthy diet. You are still growing so you do not want to deprive your body of anything vital.

LOTS of vegetables should be a MUST!! Add to that lean proteins (eggs, meats, seafood) and just get a good balance of some fruits, whole grains (oats, barley), legumes (kidney beans, chick-peas, lentils), nuts and seeds (walnuts, linseeds, almonds) and skim dairy.

Don't rely on protein supplements.

Drink lots of water too.

may god be with you, lol...good luck buddy

If I've learned anything from the people here in regards to cardio, it is to never do it on an empty stomach.

also, one of the biggest mistakes made when dieting down is to reduce calories and increase the amount of cardio at the same time. personally I always start doing cardio for a couple of weeks, then slowly reduce cals.

agreed, however i go the lazy route - drop the cals, then add in the cardio after a couple of weeks :)

Hi,

I recently created a 2500 cals a day pretty much based on what everyone here told me.
Emma leigh was really helpful (THX!). Anyway, if you have excel I can send you a nice spreadsheet with everything laid out neatly of what I ate for the week, cals, carb/prot/fat etc.

robousy

wait, buty what if i just kept the calories at 1750 for a week or so, and then if weight loss slows i can add in more cardio, drop calories by 100, or add ephedrine. is this a bad idea?

im trying to drop bf by about 5-7% right now.

i dont want to be super lean. im going crazy right now just not being able to put on mass like im used to doing.. not to mention the LACK OF FOOD that comes with leaning up, i HATE it.

ive allready gotten some of the "traits" i had before i bulked and its only the end of my 3rd day cutting. i store fat in the strangest places. like i can see my ribs, im not TOO bad for arm defenition and my legs have very little fat. i carry it mostly in the love handles, lower belly and butt. even tho im about 25% bf no one thinks im fat because i guess it just doesnt show very much and my arms are really big. even for 235 lbs i showed in the gym physical fitness test that i can do 22 pull ups, and i can run a 7.5 minute mile. im really weird.

i just want to get back to bein the mass maker i know i am!

So let me get this straight - we have all told you to increase calories - and you answer by saying that you would DECREASE calories, add cardio and add stimulants??!!

Right - and the sense in that would be???

I repeat what I said - YOU NEED TO EAT MORE! Don't be stupid.

A)LISTEN TO WHAT EMMA SAID!!!!!
B)Read up on the sticky 'guide to...' if you want more info.

C)bulking = growing ... cutting = shrinking ... cant to both simultaneously... pick one!
