Hi all, I need some help. I am 6' tall and 221 lbs. I do full body workouts 2x per week or 3 if I think I can. My workouts are as follows:
flat bench 3x8
cable row 3x8
squats 4x8
incline bench 3x8
lat pull down 3x8
deadlifts 4x8
military press 3x8
upright rows 3x8
I lift almost to failure on the 2nd or last set and I can go through the whole workout in about 45 minutes. I try to keep moving from one exercise to another. Question is would it be beneficial to lighten up the weight and burn out with more reps? I am fighting a spare tire problem (gut) and need help. The rest of me is pretty muscular looking. How can I really stoke my metabolism?
NOW my diet is a wreck. My day in a nutshell:
breakfast- 1 small bowl of cheerios and protien drink
lunch- sandwich with wheat bread and water, yogurt
mid afternoon- granola bar and iced tea
supper- tacos, spaghetti, lasagna,or whatever wifey makes but try to keep portions small.
I drink a couple of protein drinks per day and no pop at all. The reason I eat so little is that my job is EXTREMELY sedentary.(drive around all day).
Well there it is feel free to heckle, harass, and critisize. Thanks

Sounds like you want to cut. Forget going to failure. Dont know your training experience but I would lift heavy for 2-4 sets of compound movements w/ free weights only and nail down my diet plan. Heavy weights preserves muscle on a deficit and dialing in your diet will help you meet your goals. Kepp you protein high and play with carbs or fat to see where you loose the most weight. Some people loose weight with lower fats and some with lower carbs. For help on your diet go to the diet forum. I would suggest first doing as much reading thru the stickys and lurking thru the forums and many of your questions will be answered there.
