Injured ankle, suggestions for training

On sunday night rolled my ankle doing a backflip and snapped some ligament in my ankle. What can I do to help get back in the gym sooner, because alot of upper body lifts still needs stabilization from my feet. Thanks
 
Go to a doctor?
 
I fucked my ankle up 3 times playing football, and didn't give myself proper time to heal before I was back on the field. Now both my ankles are fucked. I would see a doctor if I were you. Also, is your ankle blue, red, or blotchy? All of those are signs of internal bleeding.
 
i done my ankle over 6months ago falling down the stairs doc said it wasn't broken but only sprained. it still hurts lol.
 
Yeah you better take at least several weeks off, see a doctor, use RICE therapy if applicable, if you literlly snapped the ligament, go see a surgeon, get crutches, get it set, get some vicodin because "snapped" ligaments are a terrible kind of pain, and forget about working out for a while with anything that requires any pressure on said ankle.

Have you seen a doctor? Do you know which ligament it is? What about physical therapy?

PT is very important. You want to get back into strengthening the ankle as soon as your body allows, but don't try to judge that on your own. Let medical professionals assist you.

I seen a doctor the day after. Xrays were taken but said it was just a snapped ligament. I heard a snap when it happened. It is the outer side of my foot. Looks like a tennis ball is under there.
 
a) rest and ice

b) see a physical therapist

c) when you do come back to training, start slow and work on re-developing propriception in your ankle and make sure you do some remedial glute work for that leg as the glute medius typically tests weak following ankle injuries.
 
Is there anyway I can get into upperbody work sooner? Like seated presses with light weights?

don't see why not. I wouldn't do things standing that place stress on the ankle. Probably even bench with your feet up to prevent from driving the feet into the floor during the reps.
 
Thanks, I was going to stop going to the gym. I can get my old DBs with about 50kgs of weights and use them at home while it heals.
